Re: S470, edr170ex or edr470ex?

Well, the S470 is made of wood, for one. The EDRs are made out of some kind of funky synthetic. Also, the S470 has a quality bridge. The EDRs seem to come with three different bridges: Edge Pro II (don't know anything about it) Lo TRS II (generally considered a poor bridge) and a non locking one.

Looks like the S470 is a better quality instrument. I don't know what your skill level or your budget is, but I'd go with the S470. You'll quickly outgrow the EDR.

The Lo TRS II is the bridge Ibanez had on their Korean guitar (the ones that had a locking trem) before 2002. In 2003 Ibanez changed all their bridges and Edge Pro II. The Edge Pro II is quite an upgrade compaired to the Lo TRS II. Get the S470 it's got the ZR bridge (ball-bearing not knife edge).

Regards

André

I'd go for the S470 for the same reasons as Moro says.

I would recomene buying from Regent Guitars I bought an RG from them and they were really helpful and set it up well before I picked it up.

I was in the shop a couploe of weeks ago and they had a purple S470 in - certainly a different colour, I'm not sure if its cool !!!

Yes, definitely go for the S470 over that other guitar. The S470 is a great instrument to own and I just don't trust that other guitar.

I want an S470 myself. After looking at various things in the catalog, it seemed the best value for the money.
