S470 Project - Neck Choice

Hi folks,

I'm just starting out on my first guitar-build project and this is my first post here, so I'd be grateful of any help you may be able to offer!

The starting point for my project is a 2001 S470DX AANJ body (if I remember correctly it's MIK). The body is routed for the Lo TRS II, so I'll probably drop in an OFR.

However, I'm not sure what neck to pair up with the body:

- Can I use any AANJ neck, or will certain necks require some work on the neck pocket to ensure correct string height at the body/bridge?
- Am I free to choose either a 22-fret or a 24-fret?

I realise that I could go for a custom neck, but in the interests of cost and since this is my first project, I will probably just be looking for a second-hand Ibanez neck, so any suggestions along that line would be really appreciated.

You need to use a 22 fret neck. Keep an eye out over on evilbay - they pop up there from time to time. (If you're interested in getting one form the US shoot me a PM, I have a couple I could maybe sell.) Of coures you don't NEED an AANJ ncek, but it'll look much better then sculpting a square heel neck that's already been installed. You could also get one from Warmoth or something like that, too.
