What do you mean there are no specs?
Even fender has specs for the starting points ))))))
Sorry, but I don't want anymore responses like the above.

I'm looking for the factory specs at where to start the pickups.

If they are no longer available: The hum-bucker's have very little magnetic pull but the single coil is very strong. What is an easy way to tell if the magnetic pull is messing with the string. I tired placing a cut guitar string at a 90 deg angle above the pickup in order to see how close the magnet had a pull.

The hum-bucker's are at 2mm right now, sc at 3/32's & growing

any tips or specs ?

This might help you... (or confuse you...)
http://www.ibanezrules.com/tech/setup/pickup_height.htm
But really, there is no definitive answer to pickup height...
I like some pickups closer to the strings and others a little further away.

Well that's what we're gonna say, so tough **** if it's not what you want to hear. There are no specs!

Even if they bother setting it a certain way out of the factory (which is only usually the case for higher end guitars), it's down to the set-up guy's discretion. He follows his ears, not measurements. And even then it depends on things like action and string gauge, I believe.

try 3/16 on treble side and 1/4 on bass side and adjust to taste.

Re: S540LTD pickup height factory spec ?

If you want more help/pointing in the right direction, there is a 'right' method of practice regarding setting pickup height, but Ibanez do not publish anything about how they set it up out of the factory (for those they even bother with) but with each guitar comes an instruction manual about how to do everything from set pickup height, change strings, adjust action, intonation, truss-rod and so on.
