SA360 - Limited model

http://www.machinehead.co.uk/images/sa360exlg.jpg
http://www.ibanezguitars.co.uk/acata...360_EX_QT.html

I guess you boys in the States don't have this. Anyhow I think it's a damn pretty guitar, but I have few questions:

How does that Sat 30 tremolo hold tune? And overall what's it like?

And what about those Duncan pickups? They're prolly designed by Duncan but manufactured by Ibanez.

looks impressive but if it's an exquisite offering, why the duncan designed & not real duncans??

the SA160 that i tried was value for $$$, one of the best budget mahagony guitar ever. i don't know if this is just a cosmetically enhanced model of the 160, it looks stunning.

The EDR470EX (wow, another model not available in the States ) has EMG designed pups ,but they probably manufactured by Ibanez too.

I guess it's the cost.

Those "Duncan Designed" pickups are just Duncan's offshore line... they're standard issue in many midrange Korean guitars from many manufacturers.

What's the price like on the SA360? How does it compare to the SA160 or a full-blown S model? I agree the SA160 is a really great value... hopefully the 360 carries on the same bang-for-the-buck. Am i correct in assuming the SA360 is Korean-made?

So... I sense that that's not a good thing? But hows the those Duncan pups compared to PSNDs and AS/AHs found on other S and SA guitars?

I gotta go try that guitar out...

As far as i know, the Duncan Designed models are based on the same specs as several US-made Seymour Duncan models (same kind of magnets, same kind of wire, same number of windings, etc.). They're just made from foreign parts in foreign factories, so they're probably a *little* different, but based on solid and proven designs. There's even a Duncan Designed version of the Invader, which is standard on the Squier Tom Delonge Strat.

So Duncan Designed pups on Korean made guitars doesn't necessarily mean horse pucky?

No comment about the Duncan-Designed pickups, except to say that the ones I had on a Jackson Phil Collen model (a PC3) were abysmally thin sounding (hmm, I guess that WAS a comment). I've posted in other threads about the SAT30 trem. I think I've tried all of the non-locking trems Ibanez has made (TZ's, etc). Plus I've had several Wilkinsons, and I think the SAT30 is the best of the lot. Plus the SA body has some nice features: it's beefier than a standard super-thin S body and seems to have a bit more resonance. I like 'em a lot. There's another SA available in Japan that I'd love to try. It's an SA260 and it appears to be more-or-less an SA160 with an Ultra neck on it. That could be a great match. That's my only gripe with the SA160s, the necks could be a little sleeker feeling.

This crossed my mind: does the SA360 have SA or Wizard II neck?

I checked Duncan's site and they have 13 different pickups, most of them modeled after "real" Duncans.

another thing about the SA160- the frets could've been a little bigger. the default medium frets are o.k. but IMO bigger frets make playing faster. how's the frets of the 360?

Hmm my local guitar shop has an SA360 EX QT and it looks sweet! It has a thru-neck too (well, I haven't picked it up but my teacher said it was a glue-on, but websites say it's a thru-neck). It looks REALLY nice. He did say the pickups are deffinatly better on my JS1000 than the Duncan-Designed ones.

I am REALLY thinking about getting it - it's RRP is £499 so I reckon I can get it for about £449. Slap in some new pickups (no idea what would be cool in it tho!).

Wish it's P/U combo was H-S-H tho There is a review of it on Harmony Central

man, living in the states sucks when it comes to getting guitars. I think that SA360 is one of the greatest Ibanezes I've ever seen. Looks to me like a Set Neck, No Inlay, Thrash Machine. DAMN!!!!

I ordered my RG421 last night. Maybe that'll tide me over til I find one of those SA360s.
