SAT trem equipped guitar

I currently have an RG550LTD with a lo-pro edge which I love but it's becoming a real pain in the ass as I'd like to experiment with different tunings and it just takes too long to tune with the floating bridge.

I've now come to the conclusion that I need a second guitar with a fixed bridge or non-locking trem in order to satisfy my down-tuning tendancies.

I've seen an SA series guitar that takes my fancy however its fitted with a SAT305 which apparently is a floating but not locking trem.

I was wondering if this will give me the same problem as the lo-pro edge?

I'd rather it didn't but I suppose I could always block it off as I wouldn't be using the trem.

Re: SAT trem equipped guitar

You do not want to fit anything with sat pro trems they are really bad for tuning having own'd 4 SA models not one has been reliable, go to www.ibanezrules.com and order what is called a treml-no. It will make your guitar a hard-tail. The lo-pro is considered one of the best trems made I would take it to a pro and get it set up to the tuning you play most. floyd rose trems are not the best to "experiment" with tunings with.

If diffrent tunings is what you have in mind, get a fixed bridge, a non locker will drive you crazy too and itll take forever to settle...

If you love youre RG, id get an RGA for a whole different sound with similar feel

+1 or a PGM301, and of course you can always just block yours with a couple pieces of wood.

Or get a Backstop, Tremol-no, or that type of thing to lock it in place.
