Sending my RG for a swirl makeover - ... is it worth it?

I have an RG350DXWH.. and I love swirl guitars and obviously can't afford one.

I was wondering if it's worthwhile sending my guitar over for someone to do a monkey grip routing and multicolor swirl on it.

Don't laugh.. I need your opinions.

Thanks

It would look cool no doubt, but I think you will end up spending way more than the guitar is worth. *
Probably around $600 for monkey grip, lions claw (if you want one) and refinishing.
If I was you, I would think long and hard about upgrading the guitar first, then customizing a new one.

You're probably right. Probably better to save my pennies and get a "real" UV or Jem.

I don't think you should buy a Jem or UV either if ther're not exactly what you want. *
The bottom line is this,
How much do you like your guitar, there is nothing wrong with having a $2000 K-mart special if it is what you love (OK, maybe a little wrong) but still, If it's what you love, you do to it what you really want to do.
I know a couple guys who buy Les Pauls because Ace Frehley plays them, or guys who buy Jems because Steve Vai plays them and they really don't like the guitars playability. *
I see you've got your guitar in the for sale section anyway, so it seems to me it's probably not a guitar that feels perfect to you anyway.
That being the case, go out and play every guitar you can, then decide what you want to buy, who knows, you may decide that $1000+ for a JEM doesn't make sense to you.
Good luck with whatever you decide man!!!

Then there's me, I've got a $200 guitar with a $60 pickup in it playing through a $200 effects pedal and a $350 amp. *lol *And I paid for the amp. *That's about it. *lol *The guitar was a Christmas present 3 years ago (Strat pack. **shudder*), the pickup was given to me (FREE!!) by a friend of my Dad's who didn't need it anymore (I was gonna get a flat black pickguard too, but he needed it after all) and the effects pedal was a christmas present 2 years ago. lol *Ah, that's the way to do things! lol

Well, I would prefer to get a Jem or UV but just can't afford it now.. just paid for a Jem 7VWH.

Just wondering if the idea is totally neurotic.. that's all.

I suggest NOT spending the time and money on the 350. Get a used RG 5XX or JEM.

Good point... I'm starting to really hate my sharkfin inlays on the neck too.

Cancelling the idea.

Thanks to all.
