Re: so i was thinking of....

C'mon guys, don't be so hard on the GIO series. Some may be fairly bad (like maybe the GRX20, I'll admit that is pretty bad lol), but some of the higher range GIO guitars are just RG's with chrome hardware and without a Floyd locking trem. They play just as well as your average RG.
I personally have an Ibanez GRX70, and that's pretty much a Fixed bridge RG with chrome hardware on it. The only thing that keeps it a GIO is the fact that is doesn't have a Floyd trem on it.
Maybe selling all his other guitars was a bad idea, but it doesn't mean buying a GIO was. Give them a fair chance.

Aren't you going to cut a hole in it?

Nice one.

I have an RG220, plays great with the finish removed from the back of the neck and a JB thrown in the bridge. Never played a GIO though.

I think I would have saved the '68 Tele just for the neck, which would probably be nice on the GIO once you scalloped it.

Yeah but you might have had to take a chisel to the butt-end of the neck to get it to fit the AANJ. The chisel would come in handy for the scalloping after that though:

That reminds me of the video you have to watch in motorcycle school, where they show all the people with their brains coming out and the faces scraped off because they didn't wear a helmet.

Or the photos they show all the kids in the DARE program of what crazy people have done to themselves once they're all high on PCP and crap like that.
