Re: So the original owner of my S540 contacted me...
Well if this guy pays you $700 for this guitar, more power to you. A quick check of the completed listings on eBay tells me that if I'm at all patient, I can find a really nice one for $450.

Re: So the original owner of my S540 contacted me...
Have you considered that the "bad mojo" is because she doesn't want to go back with him?
IMHO, you get a nice instrument in "not so nice" state. You clean her up, fix her, tune her real good because the last owner didn't.
Of all the used instruments I got or traded, I wouldn't give any back for the sole reason of the state they where in. crooked bridge, dirty frets, old strings, etc. They are honeslty in better hands now!

I also believe in karma and, if you're not too emotionally attached to it, would consider selling back to the original owner. Sometimes people make mistakes, or their hands are forced due to circumstance..
If he's willing to reimburse you for what you put into it, and maybe a few bucks more, if it were me, i'd do it.
I know how attached we get to these things.

Re: So the original owner of my S540 contacted me...
That's what I ended up doing. I called him again today and he has til December 20th to come and get it. He lives on the other side of the state (it's an hour and 20 minutes away) and is going to get it in person (at workplace, not at home). After December 20th, if he hasn't paid and picked it up, I end communication and move on with things. I still have to go in and take off a bunch of aftermarket parts and return it somewhat to stock. I'll put new Ibanez Japan pots in there and the original Dimarzio that came with it. It's probably in better shape now than when it was new, LOL.
And he's signing a legally binding document that he's accepting the document as is and has no future claim for anything.
In the end, I think that's more than fair. I'm not emotionally attached to the guitar (yet) like he is and he did fall on some hard times. So I feel for him. I feel like I'm doing the right thing at this point. He's from Lauderdale btw...

kudos, sir. well played. all bases covered and original owner has every opportunity to get his guitar back if he's motivated enough.

All guitars purchased from the cash converters have bad karma.

I believe you are correct maqify and I sort of had that feeling when I saw the post. Join date is the 15th of this month too...
It's all good. I don't mind a bit of cyber stalking. I do plenty of it as part of my job. It's amazing what you can find out about people with just a little bit of knowledge.

Re: So the original owner of my S540 contacted me...
coincidence, i agree.. but not me.. i just bought a guitar from another member via PM.
I can see how it can appear that way though, lol.
I promise it's not me.
My name is Edwin in case that helps solve the mystery.

Re: So the original owner of my S540 contacted me...
to make things even more suspicious, i am still trying to buy back my original rg from my friend i sold it to. lol. but unless we played in the same band in high school in miami MichelIV, it's probably not me. :-)
...maybe thats why this topic hit close to home for me... ;-)
