Re: So the original owner of my S540 contacted me...
The guy who'm I'm dealing with is named Daniel so no worries. He also doesn't have access to email on a regular basis, let alone the internet.
This popped up on the bay today...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ibanez-S540l...item2a262ac254
Needs a ton of work compared to the one currently in my possession. But same year, same color. Makes me think twice about selling it back to him.

Re: So the original owner of my S540 contacted me...
cool.. i was worried you really were starting to think it was me and i was being put in this weird spot.. lol... new guy and all..
i mean, if i wasnt me and i was reading this thread (i re-read it like 3 or 4 times), i would be like.. pfft.. it really IS that yamasaki760 guy.. specially when you told me about the 76 in his email.. i mean.. wtf? i also hadn't realized you and the original owner were in florida, lol.
FWIW, the 760 in my username refers to a 760cc engine. thats also my screename on ebay too. ive used that handle for some time on the internet.
anyways, carry on, and i promise ive never owned (or for that matter even held) a 540s

Re: So the original owner of my S540 contacted me...
Yeah I was going to ask you about your interest in bikes. I'm a rider too although I just sold my Aprilia. Was just bored riding down here and takes too much time and money to do nothing but track days. I'm keeping a bit of my gear, just in case, but selling off most of it.
Sooo...what in the hell has a 760cc engine?

Re: So the original owner of my S540 contacted me...
lol.. dont get me started..
the 760 was actually in reference to jetskis.. here's a clip of me.. maybe in 2006/7 something like that.. im pretty sure there was a 760 motor in this ski (stock engines are 701cc)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rB6TPp0CMf4
But i was also into dirtbikes in a big way too.
i recently had to quit both due to 3 bulging discs in my back that pretty much put a halt to my extreme sports stuff..

Re: So the original owner of my S540 contacted me...
the *only rule my wife has for me is NO STREETBIKES
i have a chopper in the garage but anything that even LOOKS like it can go fast on the street is a big no-no. ive had enduros and a bunch of other dirtbikes (125's, 250's, and 450F's)
ive always liked aprilias.. whatd you have?

Re: So the original owner of my S540 contacted me...
Had an RSVR Factory with lots of modifications. My wife and I actually both rode. She became very ill a few years back (recovered now) and I sold her bike as a result (Duc). And I can't seem to find anyone who rides safely around here on the street (they're all squids) so I've bagged it until I move to an area with more interesting roads. Things like curves. And hills. This place is as flat as Ohio and all the damn roads are laser straight. Then there are the old people and snowbirds. Going to stop there before I go on a rant!

Re: So the original owner of my S540 contacted me...
yep.. down here it seems that if you're not doing a wheelie at 130+ on the street wearing flip-flops and shorts and no-helmet, you're just not cool. no thanks
the biggest issue i had driving my bike down here was cars and their lack of respect for two wheels.. i decided to stay off the road and thats when i got into motocross which i fell in absolute love with. what an amazing sport.

I don't believe in karma. That guitar is yours
But at the same time, I can respect your decision to sell it back. It'd make me feel like a real stand-up guy. You know? After all of this, you're definitely going to have a clear consious.

A ton of work? I'm not trying to be argumentative with you, but that guitar is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. The body is actually better than yours and it has similar finish wear on the trem. It's missing the middle pickup, which can be found fairly often on eBay for about $40. If I were in the market for one of these, this is exactly what I'd be looking for.

Re: So the original owner of my S540 contacted me...
No worries I'm open to discussion! Look at the neck and the frets. That's $100 right there to bring the frets back up to snuff assuming they're not too worn and need replacing. Unless you can do it yourself. I cannot. And you won't really know until it arrives. Not sure how the body is any better? I've got one small ding in mine which you never really see, and I'm sure the one pictured has a few other marks that aren't super obvious in those photos. I think my headstock was cleaner. The neck on the one I currently own needed nothing more than a polish. Frets had no wear at all. And that's the starting price for the auction not what it will ultimately sell for (if it sells).
The tremolo and all the other metal parts on the ebay guitar have a whole lot more wear then what I ended up with too. Take a hard look at that tremolo. No idea what the knife edges look like. Mine, no wear. So assuming you're the only one bidding, it might take you another $100 to $200 depending on what you're willing to live with (which is a personal choice) to get things right.

Forgot to mention...the case. I have a Prestige case with it and it's in perfect working order. All the latches are intact. And it has fewer stickers!
