Some 540Rs to look at

I was buying and selling guitars on **** a while back and here are some of the 540 Radius guitars that passed through my hands.

I've always liked them too but its not the highest thing on my list of GAS so I will have to get one later or a custom made like it if the Radius models are too old and beat up by then

I was cleaning up the collection and sold my '91 HH model in ruby red. That one was gorgeous and in terrific condition. So then I only had the Faces guitar left (I figured I only needed one). It took a couple of months for the dust to clear and I realized I made a mistake. I've been looking for another HH model since then and lucked into one last week on ****. It's an '89 in Jewel Red. Had some little knicks and scratches to it but since the finish is so thick I was able to sand them out. Now I'm happy again.

Oh man, Ashley -- that's probably the most comprehensive 540R photo log every assembled! Fun stuff. I've also been through quite a few Radii, including 540R, 442R, 542R, and RV470. Love all of 'em.

Re: Some 540Rs to look at

I have 2 FGM100 models that are pretty the same body shape and neck profile than the S series. This S series are very addictive and easy to play beacuse the comfortable playing and fast necks.. then you put a hot Dimarzio USA pick ups and you got a winner horse. Also the low trem profile insert in the cavity body makes more comfortable even.

Ashbass: Watching the pics of the guitars you sell on the bay.. I remember to be in touch with you about the Pink S540.. and I remember that you were really kind. I finally not win the auction but I remember just when I see the pics. So ThanksĦĦĦ

Hey Ashley -- I just remembered something... In an old thread from years ago, Frank Falbo mentioned that he sold you a 540R with a maple fretboard, and that you may have picked up another one later on. Is that right? I don't see any maple fretboards in your pics.

I was just wondering because I have one of those maple board Ultra necks off of a 540R that I'm about to put on a 540R project I'm assembling.

Yes, I had it on the Fountain Blue one for a while. I only ever had the one. I traded it back to Frank eventually as it just didn't seem to fit the guitar. I hope your project looks good when finished and of course we'll need pictures.

Re: Some 540Rs to look at

Currently that neck lives on a creamy white 540 Power (old version) with white pickups, where it is very happy. Those were Alder, and I've got a Seymour Duncan Custom Shop '78 in the bridge.

Someday I'll make my photo collection of the Radii. I have had more though. I wish I photographed all the others that have been through my hands. Although Ashley has done some of that for me, since some went to or through him.

Re: Some 540Rs to look at

beautiful pics of those Radius's...I just traded my black one to Ubertrall, it is black with 3 mini switches, serial # is A700424, a very early one. I am going to miss it, but for a sky blue Gambale, I had to do it.
