STARTED RG REFINISH!

Ok so today some of you know that I asked about my blocked trem and found out that there was a hiddeous blocking job done to the trem and started to remove it...well lets just say i got a little too carried away and now it has officially become a refinishing job. I want to make this guitar as amazing as it was the day my friend first purchased her. She needs alot of work and I will probably need quite a bit of help as this is my FIRST refinish.

On another note, i purchased a 550 to keep me tide over until the refinish is complete!

If you can find a flathead screwdriver to fit in the slots that might be able to get out the screw or Sears sells striped screw tools.

Even better idea is a cutting torch. Fire man burn it.

Re: STARTED RG REFINISH!

With a little bit of elbow grease i got the little ****er off

Now should i wait to disconnect the pups from the switch and the pots?

The frets need to be refinished because there are actual indentations from the strings in some of them. The neck is pretty beat up on the back. The fingerboard is definitely a little dirty and could use some TLC. Not sure how to polish the Cosmo Pups rings and the Trem. Maybe just buy new one and sell the old to purchase new? I think also my barrel input isnt even the one for the ibanez but for like a strat. I have put a couple hundred in fixing the volume pot and tonal pot as they were both shot when I first got it. The pick ups needed to be resoddered to the switch because there was alot of humming coming from them and the original input supposedly had a short or something in it and thats why they replaced that as well. The body itself is in pretty decent shape...there are a couple of chips and cracked clear coat that could be fixed. I really like this color however I was thinking of maybe trying to either make a swirl or just repaint Desert Yellow Sun because I just really like that color Who knows, Ill probably just keep it the same color..keep it original.

Re: STARTED RG REFINISH!

Oh man, you're going to refinish that? No way! Green Apple Sparkle is the coolest.

That's actually my favorite Ibanez finish ever, haha. That's an RG570, right? I have one, just with the pups swapped out, and it's my favorite finish on any guitar I've owned. I guess everyone has different tastes, though!

Re: STARTED RG REFINISH!

Nah, the RG517 greens are waaaay darker. This is a Ibanez RG570. The color that Ibanez called it was actually tagged as "SS", and called "Sour Apple Sparkle". Late 90's, but still MIJ.

I'm actually hunting for a second one... I want a backup, haha.

Awesome if you keep it that color, though. Like I said, it's my favorite. I wouldn't even trade it for a JEM!
