Strange RG550 model?!
I have this guitar and I am very happy with it,it plays so easy and nice and never goes out of tune. I bought it used and am not sure which model it is. Suppose its some weird RG550.
It has: scratchplate,V1,S1,V2 pickups, very thin neck, fast and oiled from back,
rosewood fingerboard
,on floyd its written EDGE,guitar came with a hard case.
Serial number is F303512,MIJ. So probably 1993 model, but in 93 catalog there is no model with rosewood fingerboard or this color or EDGE(should be lo
pro edge
). This is my first thread here,I see people knowing a lot here, maybe someone knows which model it is or someone has some experience with same, what do you think about this guitar?

Wrong.
It's an rg750 or 550 body with a '93 wizard neck from either a separate rg550 that had a
rosewood board
, or a 560 or 570.
It could also be a MIJ RG470 wizard neck from '93

Nope, no heel slant, that's an RG4xx body from 1993 or earlier. Any 750/550 should have the slanted heel on the body. Outside the US there was an RG450 available during this period, and in white too.

My Ex-GF 10 years ago had a 1993 RG470, I'll never forget that heel. People think the old-heel is hard to play the top notes on, they should try one of these. That simple little slant makes a big difference.

ooh.
I'm glad I haven't jumped the gun on a tempting, MIJ-'93-wizard-edge 4xx. I thought I had finally outsmarted the 5xx fiends, but I was wrong about that too.

Eh, i's not a bad guitar, and bodies might be easier to get than a whole RG5xx now.. I have to have the
neck binding
though, so I don't even look at anything under an RG7xx.

Re: Strange RG550 model?!
Thinking of the old MIJ 4xx series, they would probably be one of the cheapest ways to build a 5xx series axe for a lot cheaper than buying one and building from parts.
Get an early MIJ 4xx axe complete for cheap, buy a 5xx body off e-Bay (they seem to go for decent prices sometimes), and move everything over. Buy a recessed stereo input jack if it's not already with the body and voila, you've got a 5xx series MIJ guitar for a good price.
Sounds alright, no???

Re: Strange RG550 model?!
did you buy it off the-place-which-we-do-not-speak-of?
If so then it's a "parts" guitar...like 570 neck with a 550 body then some random V1.. pups that were laying around the house.

Re: Strange RG550 model?!
I was thinking it could be RG550 LTD cause they came with rosewood fingerboard and hard case, and everyting would match except...no heel slant..as toshiro said.
Though it seems stupid that someone would change V7,V8 for V1,V2. I bought guitar used and guy said to me its RG570,which obviously is not,but I was just a 17 yo begginer,so didn't really knew..I better just play it and dont wonder much, its a nice guitar and as I play like 3 notes per song higher than 18 fret no heel slant dont bother me. Could someone give me advice on which pickups to put in for some
Van Halen
sound,I like lots of harmonics, powerful sound but not muddy? This pu is kinda powerful but muddy, notes in chords just mix together when distorted

Re: Strange RG550 model?!
It DEFINITELY wouldn't be an RG550LTD, those things had
sharktooth inlays
and binding, plus they had Lo-Pro edges, I know I've got one and it is sweeeet
