This is why pickup tone is so subjective. To me, the Super Distortion is just a mud machine to drive fuzz boxes into a frenzy, whereas the Tone Zone (which now resides in the
bridge position of my BFP) is easily one of the best sounding high output humbuckers I have ever experienced. I don't know how it's output relates to an SD, but the TZ eats the original PAF Pros for breakfast - so Greg is right for Greg's needs, and I am right for mine.
Oddly I paired the TZ with an Air Norton for the
neck position (one of the most popular combos), and have been singularly disappointed by the Air Norton - a very bland and generic sounding neck pickup to me.
You can pick up Dimarzios from various FleaBay retailers stupid cheap, and resell them here for a reasonable amount, so why not experiment and see what you get out of each one?
