All the hobby shops around me still have them. I got these from the crafts store Hobby Lobby. The Model Master ones work also, they just didn;t have the same bright colors.

Not my picture, but here is what the old school ones look like...that's also not the green I used, this is just to show you the bottle.

Re: Swirling Adventure - Details as I discover them

So late last night I decided to order a whole slew of the Humbrol Colors...only $37 worth, but MANY colors. I know some of you have used them...any tips, tricks? What are you thinning them with. That's the one thing I forgot to buy was the Humbrol thinner?

Supposed to arrive 10/2. So unless something comes up - I imagine I will be in the garage doing some tests!!!!

Yes - super enamel is what it is under. And I went with the "Gloss" enamels. I think I actually ordered almost every color they had. Hopefully it works - otherwise I will need to buy some models to use the paint on!

As for car paints - I have tried House of Kolor and it always wants to skin up on me right away! Even when I put it in un-reduced as wel las reduced. I have not spent much time with it. Someone else on here said they had success with the DuPont paints - it wasn;t specific which ones...

If the Humbrol doesn't go well, I may try some PPG...

Some awesome triels there bud. In the U.K you can't borax which sucks, so I'm using a substitute which is soda crystals. works a treat without paint thinner too. I'm trying a few tests at the moment with enamal paints. It sticks well and mixes well to, just trying to get the right mix of it all now. I'll post some pics up soon of the tests I've done and the finished product. I'm using black, white and red. Hopefully all will go well.

Re: Swirling Adventure - Details as I discover them

If you want to try borax, its for sale in big branches of boots, or just get it off the bay thats were I get it.

Rodney, good work with the documentation - keep it up. I used Oneshots own thinner & maybe only ever 10-15% thinner to paint ratio. Tried some testors fluros & none of them spread at all from the bottle. 400g box of borax in a 80ltr dustbin. Maybe the water in your area makes a difference - hard/soft etc
The other good tip it to nick a pair of your Mrs tights/stockings (avoid the fishnets!)pull them over a wire coathanger - best thing for cleaning the water between swirls. You can keep pulling another bit across the coat hanger loop.

Well the Humbrol paints arrived. I knew they would be small, but damn! These are almost cute!

The pic is blurry, but I think you can see the scale compared to a quarter! Guess I won't get a ton experimenting done with these! This is what $37 will get you. I think I got all the gloss colors I could.

So be on the lookout this weekend!
