Switch neck and bridge on ibanez rg-370

i have an ibanez rg-370. i was wondering if i could get a neck from an ibanez jem and put it on. i really like the vine inlays.

i was also wondering if could mod the bridge so i could have one of those whammy bars that has the twisty thing on it. so i can tighten the bar. or replace the bridge with a floyd rose

Re: Switch neck and bridge on ibanez rg-370

Most any 24 fret AANJ neck will fit BUT the Japanese necks(including the JEM's) will likely not have the holes in the same place and the neck would need to be re-drilled. Why waste a $600 neck on a $300 guitar? As for the bar swap, if you have an older bridge that is stamped(TRS, Lo TRS II) an aftermarket bar should fit fine. The newer Edge III bridge would not work.

I have a RG370DX body. I was able to put on a RG570 Super Wizard with no problems. It fit right on. I also stuck a Original Edge on it. Remember the Edge 3 has a bigger block than a Original Edge. So that part fits in fine. The problem is the front of the trem. the front of the trem rubs just a little on the body cavity. You can fix that with just a little light sanding.

You can't just write this and act like nothing happened.
It would be nice if you could post a few pics of your project.

With the money that you will use for the neck&bridge you can almost buy a new guitar.. I don't really see the point

Well, On **** you can get a Original Wizard neck for like 150-200, and you can get an Original Edge for like 100-150. That's going to be less than buying a prestige. The best part about building one yourself is the options. The lowest end Prestige RG is what?? 750?? Let's say we use the highest amount you usually see....

Jem Swirled body=150
Original Wizard=200
Original Edge=150
Wiring System=30
Tuners=20
H-S-H config pups=175ish

=725ish for a Guitar thats going to have better everything than the lowest Prestige price.

A lot of those are rather underestimates, and even then you are forgetting the guitar has a price, because even if he won't get full price back, he can still get something by selling it.

You can easily get RG-1570's used for $500, so end up paying a whole lot more. He could also just get a used RG-5XX and that would also be a lot cheaper.
