SZ520QM & SZ720FM owners chime in, PLEASE!

Are the only differences in these guitars strictly cosmetic?
I'm thinking of nabbing an SZ520QM from AMS for $379, but the SZ720FM in trans black/gray for $579 is tempting as well.
Seems like it's strictly cosmetics. I'd like to see the FM go down more as well, since it's discontinued, too!

Also, I've been on the hunt for a great shredder guitar at a great price. The SZ520QM seems to be a GREAT buy.. Can anyone confirm?

i love my sz520, altough i would not recommend the old ones due to the lack of inlays, it is really easy to get lost on that guitar. the 320 and 720 have fret markers. aside from that, the 520 is a killer axe. mine is an original model, but with duncan alnico 2 pro and jb. crazy souped up les paul tones. to answer your question: spec-wise, they are identical aside from adornment options.

i also have the original model.. with JB/Jazz its sounds more than a thousand bucks! dont let the price fool you!

i just picked up a sz320es which is my transfer into ibanez from esp. i spent a lot of time searching for a guitar with the ibanez name with more weight. i also love the neck through i have been into neck through's since i played one. i went for the 320 because the 520 and 720 were to flashy with the inlays and "nicer" hardware. i was between the 320 and 520 for a few months. but over all great guitar and once you replace the stock pick ups it really takes shape. go for it. you won't be disappointed

I played a new SZR at the importers yesterday and it blows the doors off the SZ model. Check one out before you buy. They have them up now on the Ibanez site.

Cosmetics are the only difference IIRC. One of my students just picked up an SZ520 for $329 from an online dealer. I owned an SZ520 and liked it so much I bought an SZ4020ntfm. I think that even the SZ320 is a great guitar for the $ and what they are blowing them out at nowadays, they are a steal.
