The Edge hump and how it affects size...

I've looked through the Trem section in the Guitar area of the site. I've been told to do this repeatedly, I still cant find it... what are the actual differences SIZE wise???

Is the Edge shorter in length because it has a higher profile and hasnt been 'squashed' out or is it basically the same shape and size as the lo-pro but just high profile??? As a matter of interest, which would one have MORE luck retrofitting... if it is smaller I assume it would be the edge?!

Please dont close this straight away and please excuse my ignorance if there is a topic that refers to this but I honestly cannot find it...

cheers Kevin

what are you trying to retrofit it to?

As a side note, ladies always told me size doesn't matter )

Here is what I get:

Edge base is 2.64 in [66.9 mm]
Lo-Pro base is 2.77 in [70.4 mm]

HOWEVER, the OVERALL length is longer on the EDGE due to the string lock screws. The Lo-Pro would actually take a smaller route.

For complete diagrams, see Edge and Lo-Pro, coutesy of Rich, Ibanez Rules!!

Edit: corrected links

is it still the case that there are different trem-block lengths on different edges from different guitars?

I know the radius used to use a different block to the RG/Jems, and I think there was a third size too...

we gotta get back in time, when Edges weren't recessed yet, and when the Radius, the Saber and a few others, had just a slightly recessed cavity, not as deep as they are since early '90s...
