The last one ! (540S TB.... I suppose)

Here is my last catch on EvilBay :
sorry it's the only (small) pic I have until it is at my home ! (next week)



it's in near mint condition but the seller seemed to ignore the exact model name;
I think it's a 540S TB (Trans Blue), the first/only (blue) one I've ever seen.

I'd like to know if I'm right and how rare it is.

While blue is not as common as other colors... I have seen them in the past. I believe there were two variations of this blue. One with a burst that fades to black and another that fades to dark blue. The HSS pup config is not as common as well. They are solid guitars and are what you would expect from a golden age S series guitar.

In the end... I'd say they are somewhat rare.

Hard to tell from the pic, but it appears to be in good shape.

first, my opinion was : HSS cannot be a S540, so it is a 540S !
and I saw this in the '92 catalog (thanks Rich ) :



we can see we have here a "TB" finish
I have a S1540 FMTT that have a "sunburst", from green to dark blue
(turquoise)

but......... anyway....... waiting for the axe, and will try to make some nice pics,
so the enigma would be solved !

SOO SWEET!! There was one for sale here in Australia last year,i went crazy and jumped on the phone,but it was already gone!! F@#KK!! X(.
Rare and beautiful,it had a really dark board and the abalone oval inlays and just made the blue flame pop! S's of that vintage are my favourite guitars of all time,LOVE EM!
