the neck on my pgm30
Ive got a 03 pgm30wh and why is it that on the back of the neck behind the
locking nut
it doesnt have the 2 bolts through the back? every locking nut guitar ive seen has that.

Most non sig MIJ's are using top mount nuts now, if you take the pads off you'll see the screws

Originally all were supposed to be top mount but evidently some of the artists balked. The Jem's and JS's at NAMM were all top mount, but not the ones coming in

without the volute at the headstock, it was pointless to have a top-mounted nut. not enough wood (depth) to grab. wonder if the namm axes were just oversights due to parts/time constraints... glen

i hear you, but this was inevitable - regardless of the reason. if not the endorsers, then customers/dealers would have ended it with complaints.
good news

Good and bad.
There's no wood sandwidtched between the metal so there won't be any cracked necks from overtightening on a top mount.
Rear mounts offer a little bit of adjustment which you do not get with the top mount.
