Re: the new iceman
Rich has some pics in his NAMM report:
http://www.ibanezrules.com/namm/2008/xpt_ic.htm
Street price in Europe seems to be 700 euros, so it's probably a bit cheaper in the States.

Re: the new iceman
Nice looking axe. I wish I would've held out. Because the two improvements I would've made to an iceman are now available. The first being giving it a thru body bridge. The other being to give it a floating trem (
sam totman
model.)

IC400 = Made in Korea
IC700 = Made in Indonesia (barf)
IC400 = classic Iceman specs ala 22 frets, set neck, paralleogram inlays, 3+3 headstock, stop bar/tunamatic 2 vol, 2 tone, Ibanez humbuckers.
IC700 = neck thru, 24 frets (yuck), reverse lightning bolt inlays (yuck), reverse 6 in line headstock (yuck),
string thru body
, 3 way located with 1 volume & 1 tone controls instead of at the top (yuck),
DiMarzio pups
.
Nowhere near the same as the IC400. And in *MY OPINION*, the IC700 is an abomination.

I'm with you. An Iceman with a 6 in line headstock? This is just WRONG! I'd take the 400 any day.

You durn purists!
Yeah, I gotta agree. Old headstock looks much better with Icemans.

...Now that's crazy, trading an original Wizard for a 2008 Wizard II. I would never trade my RG560, not me, not in a thousand years...

Yeah I hadn't thought about the neck, in that case no way. But I am so tired of trem already, and I'd like a guitar that wasn't based on the strat for once.
I just can't understand why people think trem is so essential, for me it's a cheesy sound effect and a hassle whenever you are setting up the guitar.I was just venting my frustration about it.
Please remeber this is my opinion.

...That is beginning to be a major issue these days with guitarists. I know it's not the 80's or even early 90's for that matter, so the
T
rem
N
astics
aren't what it used to be anymore, but I swear by mine, I can't live without it, probably because I know how to use it properly. Maybe everyone who buys a guitar with a floating/double
locking tremolo
should get a video with their guitar on how to use it properly and how to setup as well...Just a thought...So my advice to you is "START SAVING!!".

Re: the new iceman
I wonder if the new 700 series is more neck-heavy than the 400 series (which is very neck-heavy)
I moved the
strap button
to the side by the neck (from the back of the body by the
neck joint
) and it is still a little neck-heavy (or body light
).

Yeah, but honestly over here in Japan no one wants to play with a foreigner so I just play at home and I am not much of a collector type so what I got is good enough. I can set it up now I figured it out, but for me the sacrifice of sustain and stability isn't worth it for me. That's the main problem, setup is just a hassle but anyone that isn't an idiot can learn it.
I'm just a different type of player than the usual Ibanez player I guess. I think more like
Paul Gilbert
than Steve Vai. If you can make trem useful than more power to you, just for me it doesn't add mush to my style so I really would rather not have it.
Anyhow, back on topic, I think the original headstock was better looking on an Iceman but, I don't thin this headstock ruins the guitar. It's cool too.
I think they should make a prestige of every body type just so you don't have to buy a low end guitar to have a specific
body shape
you like.
