the ROADSTAR II's have a basswood/birch body?

I seen somewhere that my roadstar's have a basswood/brich body?
this explains why they weigh 9LBS!!!!!
what tone does birch produce?
is it similar to mahogany or maple?

I love the roadstars some advice if you have a pro rok'r bridge better buy a few when you come across them they are very hard to come by

I own 4 RS guitars now
all 1985's all have the pro rocker trem

If Birch was used, it's likely to be figured tops, or a front and back veneer so the guitar would finish easier. That was a common practice. Just veneer the top and back instead of wasting all that filler/sealer. I doubt it is your weight contributor. It's similar to Maple

It says it right in the cats. I don't believe that they all used the basswood/birch combo though. I think ones you got into a few of the higher end models they became all of one kind. Go to rich's page and look at his cats. I think that was were I saw it.

I've heard that. It also seems like if any show up on the bay, they're missing the trem arm. How do you go about finding a replacement? Are they a standard size?

according to www.ibanezregister.com
many lower end RS's used birch
the RS 120,130,140,225 and others did use birch
these were not top of the line roadstars at all
