Loving these pics, please keep 'em coming

Rock on!
They are very similar in look, feel, neck wise and playability. But if I had to pick one the 2540 wins.

Thinking about getting the Gambale swirled but we'll see. Just ordered my RG8470 J Custom on Thurs. to add to the family.

Sweet geetars in here, keep em coming!

Re: The S series guitar thread.

Look at how ridiculously high the fretboard sits off the body...

Holy Crap!!!

IT should look closer to this...

As a result the bridge and pups have to sit up higher too...

Kinda silly for what is supposed to be a thin sleek guitar!!! IMHO.

Blimey! That's even higher than any RG I've owned or seen. I'm still pissed off at how they changed the S! I hope they do produce the Japanese S again.

My 80's RGs sit as low as my S does, pretty much all you see above the body is the binding.

I'm in the process of cleaning up my 1987 540S. It a burst colour, chrome hardware and Wizard neck.

Anyone have a scan of the 1987 catalog that might show it?

Re: The S series guitar thread.

Some pics of a refinished neck..

Before...

See the wear spot at fret positions 5 to 7?

So I sanded the finish off the back of the neck and tungoiled it. I used 80,100,220,320,400,1500,2000,3600 and 6000 grit paper and micro mesh. I also used some 0000 steel wool. I rolled the binding a little more too.

Some pics..

While I was at it I cleaned up the rosewood with 2000 grit and steel wool. I then scrub it with a dry tootbrush. Then I broke out some murphy's oil soap. I also leveled 3 high frets. I used 320,400, and 1500. I then polished the leveled frets with 2000 and 3600. After that I polished all the frets with 3600 and 6000. I finished up with some bore oil.

Ahhhh S-man...

good to know about the tung oil. I have an old RS440 neck I took the paint off of and it's sitting here naked.
