I just bought this off of S-Man.

It's my first S and it makes me happy in obscene ways.

Re: The S series guitar thread.

what's up guys.
I bought this S Series new in 1995, and I love the thing. But I have a baby otw and need to sell it. I have no clue what these are worth these days, so any help in pricing would be appreciated. I think I paid a grand for it in 1995 at guitar center.

It has the "custom made" inlay with saw tooth inlays and is in pristine condition. Also have the original hard case.

Re: The S series guitar thread.

Hey I have a question for you guys: have you ever felt you needed the extra 2 frets (23 and 24) in an S guitar?? I've been watching this thread for a while and I've just fell in love with the body. But I currently have an RG, which has 24 frets. However, I rarely use the last two. And how light is the body? I get the feeling my RG is kind of heavy (basswood). And the bridge?

Thanks everybody. And let me tell you you've got some nice guitars!!

I don't own an S or anything, but I can tell you from experience that not having a guitar with 24 frets can personally be a little annoying, because:

a) Means worse access to upper frets no matter what
b) Can't play some solos/licks
c) Arpeggios, tapping, sweeping/whatever has more places to go.

I always end up doing a natural harmonic at 24 anyways just to get up there lol.

Yeah I know what you're talking about. I used to have a strat copy (21 frets) before getting my first ibanez (24 frets), and I could feel the limitation of not having extra frets. It was really frustrating, especially when playing solos.

So far the only reason I haven't bought an S is because of the 22 frets, and perhaps the active pickups. I know you will tell me to get one from the SV series, but they're way to expensive for me. And I don't know how reliable that SynchorniZR bridge is.

If only Ibanez made a 24-frets non-prestige S ...

Re: The S series guitar thread.

Question for all S players - Im assuming most of you like the stock pickups, a majority of the pics people have posted show the stock or ibanez pickups. there seems to be a bit of a variety too. So my question is which stock PUPS are the favourite that compliment the S guitars. and least favourite for that matter.

Re: The S series guitar thread.

I have a 93 S540LTD. It still has the QM1/QMS1/QM2 pickups that came with it. I've found no reason to go looking for other pickups with the versatility of these.
