Re: The S series guitar thread.
Hi everyone,
I bought my first S series guitar a week back.. I got a S520EX.. she is a real beauty...
I went to the shop wanting to buy a cheap RG, but the sales man asked me to try the 520.. The moment I held her in my hands, I knew she was the one..
So happy to find this thread.. Lets keep it alive

Re: The S series guitar thread.
By the way, mine came with a 3 way switch rather than the 5way mentioned in the Ibanez site.. I was very sad when I realized that.. But am I really missing out a lot without the 5 way switch?

Re: The S series guitar thread.
your missing the mixing of the humbucker and single coils.. i probably would not go through the trouble of putting one in. Or you can try stopping the switch half way between the switch to get the "old school" 5 way.

Re: The S series guitar thread.
The 520EX doesn't have a 5 way. The
INF pickups
in it aren't splittable so you have bridge, both or neck.
I replaced the INF's with a Seymour Duncan set and its now a beast!!

Re: The S series guitar thread.
But the Ibanez website claims that the S520EX comes with a 5 way switch.. i think i read some review in harmony central or ultimateguitar where few of them have 5 way in their s520 with the INF pickups

Re: The S series guitar thread.
I am just wondering, is the sustain in an S series guitar (mine is S520EX) quite bad? I compared it to my old guitar (unbranded) and the sustain felt like its very short.. Could it have anything to do with the thin body?
What are the disadvantages of having a real slim body?

No...it has nothing to do with it having a thin body.

Re: The S series guitar thread.
Don't know if any of you noticed yet,but in the new 2010 catalog all the prestige S5470's have now got 'Super wizard' necks..! YES!!!! About time!!! May take the plunge this year.
The SV range retain the standard prestige neck.

Yeah, hopefully that will have helped with the sustain issue thing... Should balance better anyways

Re: The S series guitar thread.
Hi Guys,
great sustain on my pretty new S670FM.
Not a big fan of Ibanez, I did like the body of the S-Series since it was introduced (in 1987?).
"Not enough wood for your playing..." is, what the guitar dealer said back then (and I had not a clue of guitar sounds at the time). Now - more than 20 years later - I tried it again. Awesome!
The most versatile guitar I have ever owned. 80s hair metal, fat jazz chords, stratty quack, you name it, the guitar does it (well, as much as my fingers translate it...) and simply the best double locking vibrato I ever played.
First Ibanez for me, still stunned,

Re: The S series guitar thread.
I've never really liked the S series but lately I've really been digging them. They rock! I'd definitely like to get one in the near future. Pics when it happens.
