Here's my 08 (I think?) S470IB on the left. Installed with Tone Zone, True Velvet and Air Norton.

Awesome! Are you getting the Zebra stripe? Looks amazing in Guitar Center's pic.

Here is my latest acquisition. 1997 S540QSTB as far as I can tell. This color is not in any of the catalogs I have seen. I love the S guitars. I want to start a collection. LOL

Re: The S series guitar thread.

Removed the clearcoat from my 2k series S Prestige. Sounds a lot better. Like the looks too.

Modifications: Clearcoat removed • Knobs changed • Air Norton Neck • Norton Bridge

That looks ace Ke^in. I've been liking guitars without clearcoat more and more lately. Has a much more natural feel, and I don't feel the need to clean the guitar every 5 minutes

Re: The S series guitar thread.

It has a "snappier" sound, and seems to respond quicker, if that makes any sense. More precise sound.

I bought the guitar back in 2006 for $390 I believe. Had leprous clear-coat issues. But the wood below it was fine. I bought it to remove the clearcoat. I played it for a few years before doing it. I just actually got it finished.

I like the results.

Re: The S series guitar thread.

It looks great, I have also liked that model. Which neck does it have Wizard II or Wizard Prestige?

"Super Wizard Prestige"

It has the same dimensions of the original wizard.

Re: The S series guitar thread.

One thing that bugged me about the original volume and tone knobs was the fact they were meant for straight shaft pots. They put these on the S with knurled split shafts. I noticed my tone pot knob was getting loose, and didn't fit right. I looked and it was tightened enough to bend one side of the split shaft. Why Ibanez did this? Who knows. I put ones that fit the split-shaft knurled pots. They have a smaller profile IMHO.

Re: The S series guitar thread.

Thanks.

BTW the plastic knobs I had on there had to be of poor quality. Started cracking from normal usage. Put the metal ones back on.
