trade in values?

ok, i think ive decided to sell my artist to put me closer to an SC420

my question is, does anyone out there have a "blue book" or some sort for guitar values? the guys at the local shop are usually pretty cool about trade in values, they will give you just what the book says, unfortunatly I dont know what the book says, and I dont know if its worth selling to them.

Its an artist AR250, flamed maple top in the cherry sunburst (the current one) its only about 6 months old...its got the typical pick scratchings above the strings which i think can probably be buffed out. a few tiny hairline scratches across the front, nothing you can see without really looking for them. the back has the shirt wear effect (looks like millions of tiny scratches, but again you have to be looking for it and in just the right light) its not in bad condition at all, only real damage is one small (diameter of a pencil eraser) chip in just the laquer on the binding on the top corner of the headstock. id call it good to very good condition, its not excellent, nor mint, but very nice shape for the way i treat my guitars

the gibson 57 classic, and 57 classic plus humbuckers cost me 200 bucks alone, that should drive up the value a LITTLE. i paid 599 for it new, no case.

any know what I could get for it?

Blue Books are pretty much tools for shops to try and give you as little as possible on a trade in. If you're ever looking to finance something and are looking to get rid of something to do that NEVER do a trade in to a guitar shop UNLESS the circumstances are outstanding (i.e. the shop will put it on consignment for free and you're good friends with the owner).

Your best bet for really finding out what people will pay for an isntrument is to check the completed auctions on eBay, check gbase.com for higher end prices and perhaps check with Harmony Centrals classified board.
