Re: Tuners for this neck/headstock

They are Ibanez cheaper tuners. You can get Gotoh standard inline tuners (which are used on the Prestige MIJ Ibanez) which will cover the two holes, and you'll just need to drill a hole to install them. Much better than finding a set of the original tuners as they aren't that great.

Re: Tuners for this neck/headstock

those gotoh tuners would fit through the hole yes, but you'd still have to drill holes in the headstock.

these on the other hand, are the tuners meant for that headstock.

Yeah those are the standard ones, but the Gotohs will be much better. Yes you have to drill a hole, but I'd much rather do that and put in the higher quality Gotohs.

Re: Tuners for this neck/headstock

it has a locking nut. as long as the tuners hold pitch for long enough to lock the nut, theres absolutely no point to making those modifications for the sake of gotohs. THe stocks will be fine.

Considering the Gotohs are only a few $$$ more, and will most probably last a lot longer than the stock ones i'd still go with the Gotohs.

Tuners are hardly the first thing I'm thinking of when i try to list the parts that are going to break on a guitar. Good ones are nice, but I personally would rather avoid un-needed modification.

Besides, the gotohs won't cover the holes from the front, only the back, if my guess is correct. Those holes go all the way through the headstock. YOu'd need a massive ugly washer to cover them from the other side.

Well if you look at the picture of the front of the headstock you can see that the holes don't go all the way through. Or at least are covered by the black veneer.

Re: Tuners for this neck/headstock

The Gotohs cover everything they would need to. I wouldn't have suggested them unless I, and others had found that from experience.

I don't know why you thought the holes went right through the headstock either, I mean the OP provided pics, you can see they don't.

And those cheaper ones do break, I am speaking from experience.

I just didn't check the pics, I thought the second pic had it showing light through the 2 holes.
