upgrade from Rg570 need advice

Hi guys, I'm looking for decent upgrade from RG570 even though about PRS Custom 22 (played for about a month). But decided to stay with Ibanez.

My Budget is bellow $1000 and I would like to get an instrument for recording heavy stuff.
Looking for the advice at what instrument to look.

I like my RG 570 but I would have to change pick-ups and smthing wrong with my neck - stings are too high but still buzzing sound
I played some other Ibanezs (RG550/570) - very low and nice fast action . but not in my case.

Thanks,
Asgaroth

No need to buy a new guitar. It will cost you 120-180 for new pickups from musicians friend. The buzz problem is because your guitar needs its neck adjusted or a fret dress. Not a big deal just get it set up. Trust me, once you get those RGs right..............they are right as rain!

Re: upgrade from Rg570 need advice

Aside from the pickups and issues with the neck, what is it you would look for in a new Ibanez to be a step up from the 570?

Re: upgrade from Rg570 need advice

aside from action and pickups I have no compalins.

The point is I can sell this guitar for around $300 +170 for new pickups and around xx for the neck adjusted or a fret dress (I have no idea how to do it on my own)

So technically speaking = I can spend around 250 just to adjust this guitar to my need.

I kind of do not know what to do at this point - that is why I'm asking for the advice. I know I sound kind of stupid asking all these question but I have to start somewhere

May be I would be able to chenge pickups by myslef - but where I would get instruction how to do it?
And about pickups, I need nice mellow sound for solos aka "Septic Flash" and a riffs aka My Dying Bride .

P.S. this is minor but I like colour of my guitar to be different (dark cooper)- I like this http://www.ibanezrules.com/images/us...v/P1010208.JPG

Re: upgrade from Rg570 need advice

for under 1k I would rather sell my Guitar and buy smth new
I'm not ready to spend 1 000 for THE UPGRADE.

no offence but if I would like to get Custom I would get custom made from the begining.

Re: upgrade from Rg570 need advice

my main objective is to get a better guitar which will not buzzzz (as mine does) and with better pickups
this objective can be achieved by:

a) buying a new guitar
b) fixing this one by myself (at least pickups I would be able to change)

so I'm asking for the advice what to do.

smthing like - keep the guitar just change the pickups
or - take a look at this this or this model of guitar.

Re: upgrade from Rg570 need advice

If you like the 570, and the neck is un reparable, then replace the neck and stick in some new pickups.

Or, if you like the 5xx series, buy a new one.

Or, if you are after something else, give us all a bit more of a hint!

I'd go for a used 5xx or 25xx myself.

Thumbs up

Re: upgrade from Rg570 need advice

YEAH now we're talking. You might wanna ask opinions on pickups because IMO they can make or break a guitar. Trust me...........get the buzz checked out. The neck could need adjusting which is done for nearly nothing. The frets may have to be leveled which is under 100$ or it could just need a good setup which isn't that much. You have a good guitar, it just needs some cleanup.

Question

Re: upgrade from Rg570 need advice

So what kind of pickup I need to aprouch such a sound (I understan what I need a proper processor/amp as well but I have somwhere to start)

I have attached 3 files

looking forward for riff and solo (riff2 would be nice to get an idea) - for your comments

riff/solo - Septic Flesh / riff2 My Dyinf Bride
files around 300-400k
http://www.nextd.net/riff/riff.mp3
http://www.nextd.net/riff/riff2.mp3
http://www.nextd.net/riff/solo.mp3

P.S. sorry of my total ignorance but I used to play bass (Ibanez of course SR) due to the fact I'm the only one who stays in the band and wish to play-record (everyone else kind of "grew up" LOL ) I have to study guitar to record an album (I'm fluent in PC music Workstation).

Re: upgrade from Rg570 need advice

I would probably go with an Evolution or Tone Zone in the bridge, and a PAF Pro in the neck. Read up about them on the dimarzio website. www.dimarzio.com Remember when you order, order f spaced.
