upgrading my 2001 S470

hi, after playing arround with my line6 variax 500 i decided to sell it and i will be using the cash from that sale to upgrade my S470 and i need some help:

first, right now i have that horrible Lo TRS II on my S470 (blocked by the way, that piece of crap just didnt stay in tune) and the stock pickups AH1, AH2 and AH single coil (these pickups are a bit harsh, especially the middle one the neck is ok).

will installing an original floyd rose make any diference (trem, posts, springs) or is it something else that prevented my guitar from staying in tune? (i didnt use the trem and still went out of tune).

I also want to install some dimarzio's and so far here are my choices for combos:

1. Evolution Bridge, HS-3 middle and Evolution Neck
2. Evolution Bridge, HS-3 middle and Humbucker from Hell
3. Super distortion bridge , HS-3 middle and humbucker from hell

so, what do you think? any sugestions or comments will be great

If you install an original floyd into your s470, then you will have guitar that will stay mighty fine in tune even with heavy use of the bar. The original floyd is just as good as the edge or lo pro edge just has a different feel to it. The pickup combination you mention I would go for the first one because I like the evos but some might say they are a bit quiet. Your last combo sounds also a good idea but I haven't tried the humbucker from hell and super distortion.

Regards

André

Sell the 2001 470 and get a 2003 (the rem is amazing) and then swap the pups. Or, just sell the 470 and get a 540 (I would go with this option).

i dont have a lot of money right now, and i can't afford buying a new one and swapping the pickups, so i think i will go for the OFR and diamrzio's

Any other pickup combo that you would recomend?

have anyone tried out the HS-3 in the middle position, i chose that one because the stock single coil is just too bright and harsh and i often tend to roll off either the volume or the tone controls

isn't that blue velvet a bit bright? or is it a good kind of bright (not anoying, not harsh, very clean sounding)?

i have seen that pickup in the prestige models on jap ibanez gutars and that was my first choice but it seems a bit bright acording to the tone chart on dimarzio.com, also it says that the custom middle pickup on the JEM models is more like an HS-2 and it is still on the bright side so that is why im investigating the HS-3 in the middle position, so i dont have to be rolling off the tone control to use that pickup.
