Used PGM300īs - Whatīs the deal with the fretboard finish?

Hello!

Iīve been checking out used PGM300īs, (scanning the internet for pics)
and spots of the finish on the mapel fretboards seem to be worn off on pretty much all of them, even only 1 year old models.

Why is that?
What kind of finish do they have on the PGM300 mapel fretboard?

Anyone of you guys ever purchased a brand new PGM300?
And if so, has the freatboard finish begun to wear off?, and how long did it take for the first spots to appear?

Iīm greatful for any info.

Regards, Anders

Anders,

I've had quite a few maple neck guitars and they all started to show wear...some took longer, like the 10 year old Jem BFP that I had...others were a little quicker...but they don't show up THAT quick. I LOVED my J Custom RG-ART1 because I love maple necks and it had this thick "clear coat" that kept the neck shiny and new!

thanks for the info.

I have had several mapel necked guitars.
Mosty Fender Stratocasters, some of them more than 26 years old.
Never had that problem.

I guess the thickness of the coating and the chemical compounds of the finish, differ between the brands.

I play my PGM300 everyday for at least an hour and the maple board still looks new
and i dont think the maple board will show wear that fast... they should last a long time.
