Valuation?

Does anyone know what my Radius was worth new? I'm not sure, but I am under the impression that this particular one is quite rare...
Any ideas?

Thanks for help (in advance)

Re: Valuation?

Not sure about the year, but I think it's pre-91' due to the back plate, the list price on these were $899.95, which makes about £450.

Got the informaton off www.ibanezrules.com by the way, incase you need to find something again.

It's exactly '91 . I thought it might have been a little more, cos it's supposed to - although I still lack complete detail - be a limited edition reissue or something like that...

Re: Valuation?

I don't think they made re-issue Radius guitars;

Here's the exact information on your particular guitar, it isn't a special edition by the way, they all had ' Custom Made ' as one of their inlays:

Body: Basswood
Neck: 1 Pc Maple
Fretboard: Rosewood
Hardware : Lo-Pro Edge Tremolo, Black
Pick-ups: Neck/Middle : IBZ USA C1 Vertical Humbucking
Bridge : IBZ USA F1 Humbucker
Finishes: BK, JB, RR, WH
List Price: $899.95/£450.32

Yours is finshed in JB ( Jewel Blue ) of course, hope this helps!

Re: Valuation?

No I know that, I know the story behind the neck...but the pickups are different, and I haven't seen many with the same config and neck and colour together, but thanks for the info, any more ideas?

Re: Valuation?

It's the standard 540R, there isn't anything different. The 540R is the model exactly like yours, with the H-S-S configuration.

The only different Radius models are the 540RHH ( H-H ) and the 540RLTD ( H-S-H ) from 1991, I can't see any difference, yours is a Standard 1991 Ibanez 540R in Jewel Blue, they were all MIJ so theres nothing different there either.

Re: Valuation?

I believe his is the 540R LTD (shark fin inlays), rather than the regular 540R The later LTDs had Wizard necks, rather than the Ultra as on the standard 540R, but the 91 catalog doesn't specify neck type. Anyway, great guitar, but not rare. The rare one is the 93 540R LTD that had the AANJ neck heel.

Yeah I think that's right...it is certainly a Wizard neck...

Not bad I dunno though, I kinda want a PS3, but they're so expensive, and according to some stuff the current ones (ie the first ones, in the UK), have a lot of glitches...

Re: Valuation?

yeah games like cod3 on ps3 have been port overs from 360 so arnt optimised for ps3 and had lag problems, and yeah its a bit buggy at the moment, i'd hang fire for a bit on the ps3.

Also its going to take developers a while to get the best out of the ps3 as they won't know its capabilities for a while, which has shown for the 360, looks at gears, cod3 and up and coming games in comparison with its debut games. then again game developers like to make games that can be ported to each platform to make more money, so again that cuts down optimising best for each console.

I think the PS3 will be good, but it'll take a while to settle.

Anyway back to your guitar, looks good

They did cost more in the UK than £450.

The USA price doesn't really affect the UK price, though. Look at the UK price vs USA on the RG 20th, for example. It's almost the equivalent of $1700.
