What do you think these are worth?

I was doing a little browsing and found a UCEWFM like this one:

for $599.00 in excellent condition. Is it worth it?

I also found an RG565CA in good condition for $349.00 Is it worth it?

I always wanted a guitar with a reverse headstock the the USA Custom does look sweet. I was thinking of picking up both of these guitars, but not being familiar with them I'm not sure on the prices. They seem to be good prices, but if I buy them and end up not liking them would I be able to get my money back by selling them?

What does being on this site for over a year have to do with weather I know the price of a guitar or not? I said I was not familiar with these two guitars. I collect JEMS. Thanks Glen, I'll go steal them this weekend....I hope there still there

I've played both. I know the shop that they are at.

The 565 has some big dings in it.

The USA custom's bridge needs some work. The blocks that clamp the strings in place are rusted...so much so that changing strings is very difficult. It was a pain to get old strings out, and really hard to correctly put new stings in. There was so little room to move the blocks back and forth.

I know b/c I bought it. The store has a 3 day return policy. After spending a lot of time setting it up, I took it back. It played nicely and sounded great, but I didn't want to put money into parts to make the trem work great. The guitar did sound great, though. I'm getting too old and too busy to mess around with fixing up guitars.

If you decide you want to come up to GB, talk to Lloyd. He's a good guy.

Get them both!! I own a UCEW myself and I love it. Worse comes to worse you can always resell the USA Custom to me!

(I could always use another one!)

even if you bought a new trem for $235 from Rich for the USA, it would still be a great deal for that price. those are a very special RG's that are getting harder and harder to come by and have the quality of high end Ibanez's - possibly as close as you can get to a JC without it being a JC.

First, Thanks for the info marcusc. You were righ on those.
Well, sorry to say they were not worth it (or at least not to me). I checked them out today and the RG565 was ok. It had nicks in the body and one in the headstock. What killed it for me was a crack in the neck joint and it wasn't just a finish crack.
The USA custom had a few nicks and impressions in the body with pieces of clear missing, nicks on the back of the neck, and even though the action was set ok, the posts for the trem were screwed pretty far out of the body. The pics they sent me didn't show all these things. It's to much work for me right now.
I also went up there with the intention of "donating to the indians" at the casino, but ended up comming home $250.00 ahead

Now, see, $599 in UK money would just about buy me a Korean RG of some sort...that's not even enough for me to buy the RGT42 in the UK, and RG550s have been known to go second hand for £500 here...you guys just don't know how lucky you are to live where guitars are so cheap.

Mind you, isn't the general household income in the US lower than in the UK? Perhaps it evens out.
