What the honest frick.

Good day my friend's, I have a question that I need someone with some more experience than me to answer.

So yesterday I was playing my guitar, no problems, as usual, and when I put my guitar back on its wall hooks, about 5 minutes later 4/6 strings just snapped all at once. Any explanation to that? The strings on the guitar were only 4 days old, but I can't see what that has to do with anything.

Plus I'm looking at a few guitars from around here to buy.
Ibanez EGEN8 or S1XXV in green?

Thanks as always, The Kid

What?? Never heard of anything like that happening. Where did they break? I mean, at the nut or at the bridge? I'm assuming it's a tremolo guitar, so when one breaks there is additional spring tension on the rest... etc.

Sounds strange.

Re: What the honest frick.

I've had this happen to me during a string change. I locked the bridge too tightly and it cut the strings. 3 of them came flying out of the bridge.

Yep, locking the bridge saddles too tight can cause this sometimes. Be careful not to over-torque the screws, if the saddle blocks are too tight you can essentially cut through the strings from the pressure.

Re: What the honest frick.

These all make sense. You'd think that this would happen earlier on though. And all the breaks were in the middle, from about the 9th fret to the 15th.

Thats it freaky... Right in the middle? I asked where because at the bridge would be over tightening.

In the middle though? I have no idea. Worn frets with sharp edges? Maybe a cursed guitar? Or a p!ssed off ghost?

Was your house built on an Indian burial ground?

Yeah, I'm not sure. I'm stuck between Ghost and Haunted Guitar, even though they're about the same. When I pick up some strings I'll just get 2 or 3 sets so when my Axe dulls it's blade, I'll have extras.

You might want to run the guitar by a church and have it blessed... or see if they will give you some holy water to wipe it down. Just say it's for your church youth group band.

I've only heard of something similar happening when the strings are extremely rusty in the middle.
