Re: what kind of neck did the old Ibanez RG7xx series have?
thanks for clearing that. I'd like to verify too if the RG7xx series were assembled in the USA and had pickups made by dimarzio (IBZ's) ?
thanks in advance.

Really, really nice guitars. I've been thinking of getting another 760 for a while now. If you're thinking of getting one, you won't regret it.

I have a 1991 rg770 with direct mount IBZ pickups(no pick gaurd like the dxs').
The neck has a "made in Japan" sticker on the back of the headstock
with a "f" at the begining of the serial #.The
neck plate
says north hollywood, ca. on it, and the spot on the plate for the serial #
is blank. My understanding is that the necks and some of the hardware
were sent from Japan and they were assembled in the califonia plant.Heck,
I thought I came upon a proto-type because of these differances and
then found out later after I bought it, that was the way it was done back then
Super sweet guitar!!!!!!!

Re: what kind of neck did the old Ibanez RG7xx series have?
the American Master 7xx were assembled in PA.
normal 750, 760,770 were built in Japan.
7xx always had
Dimarzio IBZ
USA pickups.
I could shoot myself for selling my neon orange rg750.

O.K. then,what is a "non-normal" 750,760,770 ??? If that's the
case(nomal ones made in Japan),why do I have a "made in Japan" neck
with a Hollywood, CA neck plate??
Oh, and this guitar has NOT EVER been taken apart, as not to assume
that "someone must have swapped the neck plate out.."
(Rich??? Can you help us out on this one????)

Interesting. My RG770 has the PA neck plate, serial # on the headstock.

Re: what kind of neck did the old Ibanez RG7xx series have?
American Masters have nothing to do with the RG7xx guitars, since they(A-Master) were 90% made in the USA(10% for the hardware lol).
Now, there were some RG7xx assembled over here, similar to how the US Custom Graphic models were.
My RG750 has an 88xxxxx SN# on the PA neckplate, nothing on the headstock, on the other hand my RG760 has the F9xxxxx SN# on the headstock, blank PA neckplate.
I'm not sure that just having the PA or Cali neckplate makes the guitar assembled over here, though it might be.

Re: what kind of neck did the old Ibanez RG7xx series have?
If I recall the 7xx series were all made in Japan but some were assembled in the US. The ones that came out of the Bensalem, PA shop I found usually had a F serial number but did not say Made in Japan. They also sported a Bensalem, PA neck plate without a serial number on it. I haven't come across one without a serial number on the headstock so I'm not too sure about those and the ones that came out of the Cali shop.
Neck wise, all the 7xx series came with Wizard necks with
sharktooth inlays
.

Re: what kind of neck did the old Ibanez RG7xx series have?
Ya, Thats how my RG770 is. It has the PA Neck plate with F00xxxx serial # on the headstock without the MIJ. So mine is possibly one of the essembled in U.S.A.?...interesting stuff.
There is a guy selling an RG760 on E-bay right now. #7407292191. It has the PA neckplate with serial number on back.
