Question

What Model of Ibanez Guitar is This?

I bought this guitar a while ago for $350 (with a practice amp). The guitar was a used 1993 model (I think...it is hard to tell what year becuase the serial number on the back is carved in rather than printed on a sticker...I will post a pic of the serial number later).

Anyway, I bought the guitar because the pickups on the guitar are worth $300 alone, and I could always use the floyd rose trem. However, I really like the sounds and playability of the guitar. I cannot find a model that looks exactly like this one. Some of the S Series, EX series, etc look close, but not exactly the same. Does anyone have an idea of what model this is?

Thanks!

I don't think its that early...it has an AANJ. And also, any of the S series guitars would have either an Edge or a ZR..not an OFR. In fact I can't name an ibanez with an OFR from memory...

In all honesty, to me it looks like a mongrel or project guitar that someone put an Ibanez neck on...

Its a fake ibby from asia,i've seen a few of these in my time and most were owned by guys from those countries. The biggest give away that its a fake (apart from everything, hardware, dimensions, fit n finish etc..) is it has 24 frets! We only received that on our real Ibanez's this year remember! I have in the past looked at getting one of these because of the 24 frets, but just was'nt happy with them, however i know i guy in the Philipines with an excellent one with sharkfins and very precise dimensions! It could pass as genuine with some tweaks.

Re: What Model of Ibanez Guitar is This?

Well, I know that the neck is not the same as the body. I believe that the neck is newer. It looks and feels a lot like the Wizard II. I believe it was a project guitar which is fine by me because it sounds great and has nice hardware (pickups, trem, tuners, etc). However, I do believe that the body is a Korean or Jap made Ibanez body. It is most def mahogany wood (the weight and look of the wood under the finish gives it away). I assume that someone took their guitar and upgraded to a floyd rose, upgraded the pickups, and upgraded to a Wizard II 24 jumbo fret neck). Maybe I am wrong...any thoughts? If this body is a fake, then it is a pretty nice quality fake. I do know that the previous owner repainted the neck to match the guitar more. That led me to believe he took it off of a newer Ibanez.
