What should I get? Ibanez xiphos vs. RG1570

I can buy a xiphos brand new (the trem version in chameleon green) for $650 with case (normally they come without case). OR I can get the RG1570 (in black) brand new for $700 with case. What I like about the xiphos is that it's neck thru and the color is pretty sweet. But the RG1570 has the Edge pro instead of Edge III and has the prestige neck. So basically, how much better is the edge pro over the edge III? And is the prestige neck much better than a non-prestige wizard II? I'm really not sure what to get. What would you guys get and why?

Get the RG-1570. The Xiphos is just a more overpriced version of the cheaper Ibanez models, you are talking about a fairly substantial quality difference for very little money.

I would choose the Prestige RG1570 over the Xiphos personally. I think that the RG is a more comfortable shape, and the Prestige level hardware and quality control are better than on the Xiphos.

I own a 2006 RG1570 and a VBT-700(the v that was released along side the Xiphos, with the same specs), and even though the VBT is a good intrument, the 1570 is better imho.

Whichever one you choose, enjoy your new axe.

ive played both and i was very impressed by the indonesian made Xiphos, it played very well, sounded excellent (from what i understand it has quality pickups), was comfortable to play and looked great (as a metal guitar) The only thing i dont trust is the tremolo being an edge III, this can probably be sorted out later but it will cost a biit.

I always thought the Xiphos looked to "Japanese" made me think of Loudness.

I own a Xiphos. And it is a great guitar. Put together well and all that. But I had enjoyed the Edge Pro 2 way more that the Pro 3. It has some "bumps" on the block that I find run into the body stopping you from pulling up well. I even raised the action to stupidly high heights just to test this and it made no difference from when the action was crazy low. Stays in tune like nobody's business though. I actually had it fall out of its stand hit my wrist hard enough to cut it and draw blood and slam onto the floor. Still in tune.

However, the Prestiges are better hands down. Wizard>Wizard 2. Edge>Edge 3. Higher quality control as well.

Of course if you're a huge neck through fan the Xiphos would be better. So I guess it comes down to this:

If you want a Neck through guitar with a Mahoganhy body go for the Xiphos.

If you want a better built guitar and don't care about bolt-on verus Neck through go for the RG.
