what wrong wif rg350?

hi ya, did a search on rg350, and found out tat it seems tat its not really recommended. Why is this so? If we will to compare rg350 to rg450/550 how izzit different? isnt the same neck and body used? or there is difference? lets dont count in about the bridge, since i gotta swap in my original floyd rose as soon i get it, if its a rg350 with ofr vs rg450 vs 550, is it still that bad? or the only difference between them is the qc and the bridge? yeah thx for the advice.

anyway is wizard 2 neck very thick? how izzit compared to fender necks? thinner by alot? or by abit? how about jackson soloist? and is the difference between wizard 2 and wizard neck really that great?

Re: what wrong wif rg350?

The RG 550 has a better trem, better wood quality, somewhat better pickups, and better craftmanship than the 350. I wouldn't replace a perfectly good Lo-Pro for an OFR, but hey, it's your choice. As for the necks, the Wizard II is VERY different from a Strat's. You can feel the difference between a Wizard and a Wizard II (which is thicker).

yeah all that is true, but i love the 350 no matter what its affordable and has pretty good quality. the pickups are kinda lame but i changed mine to emgs anyways. but imo the 350 isnt bad at all

Re: what wrong wif rg350?

I personally think that the Infinity pickups that come with the RG350 sound better than the V series pickups (at least in the mahogany-bodied RG321). But to answer your question, there is nothing wrong with the RG350. Like most other Ibanez guitars, it is a great bang for you buck guitar. Of course, there's always better...

Re: what wrong wif rg350?

IMO the INF pickups are terrible. I don't know what you play through, but V series sound better to me by a mile. Altho I'd still swap out the V series anyway.

The RG350, which I've played, is considerably worse than my 550. Forget the trem, just the overall feel of the neck feels cheap. I'm gonna guess those that are happy with theirs got lucky. Cheap guitars are a hit/miss thing anyway.

Personally I'd buy a used 5xx series instead which you could probably get for the same price as a brand new RG350, and I'm sure most people here would too.

Re: what wrong wif rg350?

i have it and personally i think it has a great feel. its just a fun guitar to play, and the OFR retrofits so thats an easy upgrade. im turning mine into a project guitar - swapping the trem, pups and some other stuff (custom pickguard?). its a good guitar for the money, especially new. but if you dont mind used, then the rg5xx's are worth a look (or so everyone says)

Re: what wrong wif rg350?

so theres actually no difference between the thickness between rg550 and rg350? juz that the wood used is lower quality, lower qc, is it? icic actually i tried rg2550e which was way too thin for me, i actually got a budget of 1.2k but wizard then is abit too much for me, considering im too used to les paul

yes, there is a huge different between 550 and 350 necks.
550 is wizard, super wizard, thickness about 17mm at 1 st fret. 430mm radius (flat)
350 mostly wizard II, thickness is about 19mm at 1st fret ( catalogue says), 400mm radius ( a little bit rounder than wizard).

wood quality is another thing.
I agree that Japanese made Ibanez uses higher grade of materials compare to those korean made.

if 2550 neck which is wizard neck feels too thin for you, maybe you should consider to find used RG2620QM from 03-04.
the neck is ultra, and thicker than the wizard.

Re: what wrong wif rg350?

I will definitely agree that the Korean-made RGs are a hit and miss type of thing. I swear that every one that I've played has been a little different...especially with the neck. I lucked out in that my RG370DX has a PERFECT neck on par with a prestige neck while my RG321 has an alright neck but it definitely isn't EXACTLY the same. I've also played many other Korean RGs in music stores and they have this same problem in that they aren't all the same. So if you're going to buy one, I would suggest doing so from a store instead of online so that you can visually inspect the guitar.

I thought I was the only one who has problem with korean necks.
In the past, I owned RG 270DX from 2000, RGR 220DX from 01, RGR 320DX from 02, RG 320DXQM from 04.
the last one 320DX QM is special made for guitar center.
guess what? none of them has same neck.
for example, the 270DX feels a little bit thicker than 220.
RGR320DX has more like C shape neck.
And still the catalogue says that they are all WIZARD II... and made from the same factory CORT korea.

this is weird, but true...

Re: what wrong wif rg350?

yea I gave my RG550 away to my younger brother because the neck was to thin for me. I'd still recommend to go for a MIJ Ibanez tho because of the consistency issue in built quality as mentioned. There are plenty of MIJ RGs on the 2nd hand market (evilBay) and classified forums anyway...so I just can't justify buying a MIK when for the same money you can buy a MIJ.

Also...Aren't the new RG350s coming with edge IIIs this year? I remember the one I played having that. Could be wrong. OFR still retrofits to that?

Re: what wrong wif rg350?

If you want new then a RG350 is great value.

If you're considering used then a MIJ RG is the way to go
