Which guitar next?

OK, now i've got my JEM I'm looking for a different brand, fixed bridge this time and no more than $1500.
I use to play Heavy-Rock (80's style) but also interested on Metal. This new one will be used for rhytm basically. I was thinking on the Gibson V-factor (Fying v) or a SG but I'm open to hear your thoughts.
Thanks for your help guys!

Used mainly for rhytm....ahh..you must be going to do some recording, eh??? I've have played some fixed bridge ESP's recently. The higher end ones are VERY SMOOTH and in your price range.

Re: Which guitar next?

Les Paul. If it's for hard rock or metal you would probably like the Classic. The neck is slimmer and the pickups are loud and mean sounding (but they suck at cleans, which is why I replaced them!).

The thing is with Gibson is to be sure to shop around and find a good one, mainly the neck. Some of them bow funny and some of them are perfect, with little inbetween. Plus they don't come setup at all from the factory (with hardly any tension on the truss rod, so there is a lot of bow), so you can't look at which ones go pretty much straight, you have to make sure they don't bow funny.

Just a hunch bro

Standard Eclipse II (looks like a Les Paul)
Standard Horizon II

Both list around $ 1,700, but you know you'll get them for less. I played both....very nice. (and I'm quite picky) I really like the Horizon (cool finish)

Re: Which guitar next?

The best playing guitar i have is my ESP Eclipse II. I have the EMG swapped with Seymour Duncans, a JB and a 59.

They sell for around $1300. I find their tone couldn't match my '95 LP Classic, but they come with EMGs and with EMGs you wouldn't notice the difference anyway! But it was like a joke after playing the '58 RI I want so badly (damn lack of cash!!!!!).

But seriously they hold up well against most the crap non custom shop line (well 98% of it!) and are a bit cheaper and already come with EMGs as an option. My biggest problem with them is the damn sperzel locking tuners always break on me.

Re: Which guitar next?

Can't go wrong with a Gibson Les Paul Classic.

Put some Seymour Duncans in there or whatever and you've got yourself a very nice guitar

Re: Which guitar next?

ESP Eclipse II or even an EC1000 for under $800 would work for your needs if you want an ESP.
i have a pair of Explorers and they rock pretty hard and make a great stage guitar for the looks and stability. really can't say Gibson is very spot-on with their finishing (frets mostly). once you have it touched up by a tech (leveled, smoothed, polished) you have a monster on your hands that screams ROCK.
Hamer has some amazing guitars that are by far the nicest i've played under $2000. check out their website.
don't forget to check out some of the banners at the top for customs - you might get the guitar of your dreams for a few cents more thru some of those guys. good luck and let us know what you decide.
