Which JPM or JEM or JS

Well...I hate to be another guy to ask such a question, Im a huge fan of Petrucci, I like his sig ibanez guitars, I like the JEMs and i like the JS's...

I think my biggest debate is the JPM over the JEM...Buy a quality based all around compairson, which is the better of the two? Its not tooo easy to find used JPMs, Rich has 2 or 3, The P2 of his I like...But I also like the JEM7VWH...

Well, it all comes down to personal taste and playability...The first advice everyone here, including me, will give you is to play both... One of them should feel better to you...Then it comes down to the specs, do you want a HSH or HH pu configuration, do you like the pickups, the looks etc...They are both quality guitars, so it is all up to your preferences...

Pawel's right, "there is no best" it's what will suit you.

If you can get your hands on one of each model for a test drive that's the best way to make the decision, but if it's down to an "on paper" choice, analyse which features you need, like the different pickup configurations, the choice of woods and so on, and go by that.

If you prefer the looks of one, but the features of another, don't forget you can add pickups to a JPM, or get a scratchplate for a JEM with no middle single coil and so on.

Good luck with your decision

The 2003 version of the PGM30 is a great deal...has the Edge Pro I and a prestige neck for a very reasonable price.

But, really, the JPM is a good first choice.

True, the PGM30 looks like a good deal (must try the trem out myself, though), but:
1) No maple neck
2) pickup rings (ick- a personal thing)

Well You know...I was like Damn that PGM30 is a damn good buy for that price...But those F holes...just ehh...I donno...And then I was like the JPM should do real well...But today I went to guitar center...and they had a Music Man petrucci model w/ red burst finish and matching headstock...and the neck was just beautiful and it was just sooo nice...1200 bucks..

If only I had the money, or could ever have the money to buy guitars gah...Maybe Vai should donate one of his...maybe....

The Jem, JPM, and JS all have very different feels to them. Personally I like that, which is why I set out to own as many different guitars as possible.

Right now my JS2000, RG421, and SC420 are really different in tone and feel, and I love it.

I'd love to add a DBK to that list this year.

The JPM's are great, but I really don't care for the switch placement.
