Which RG is my guitar - I got a used rg and am unsure as to

I got an RG used a few months ago, and I am unsure as to whether it is an RG 4xx, 5xx etc. The serial number is F905117, and made in japan. It has the floyd rose type trem (I think edge.) And locking nut, an HSH config with *IBZ V1 in the neck, IBZ S1 middle, and IBZ V2 in the bridge. I think that the guitar is from the early 90's, as the serial # is F90, and the fact that the headstock lacks RG at the very top, as I've seen on the newer models at guitar center. I play quite a bit with a Fender Tele/ Marshall Valvestate 265, and only recently have I begun to appreciate this RG. Please help, thanks.

If it's made in Japan, it is likely a RG5XX series, probably a 550, does it have a pickguard? what are the fretboard inlays? *what color is it? rosewood or maple fretboard? * could be a 700 series too
Got a picture?
Oh, and welcome to the forum!

yes, Jeremy is pretty on this..

a pic will solve the mystery, though. if it has dot inlays its gonna be a 5xx series, most likely.
Pick up config and pick gaurd are also tell tales of model..

My bad, I thought that I covered all the angles in my description. Thiss guitar does indeed have dot inlays (mettalic looking ones.), and it has no pickguard. The finish is kinda wierd. In different lighting it goes between a blue and purple hue. Thanks guys

Almost sounds like an RG 700 series with the metallic fret markers..although I think a few 570's made it out with those as well, I'm just not sure.

with out pics, my next thought is an Rg DX series..
If it has a humbucker and 2 singles with no gaurd its likely a 560 series but i dont remember if Ibanez DX'd that run...

got pics?... moooo

It sounds like a 570 to me.. * Dot inlays (yes they can look metallic in the right light more a silvery plastic) *HSH config *V1 S1 V2 *( rg 570 specs) * and metallic blue purple finish is the only throw off...

I'm gonna put my vote in for an RG570PN That sort of flip flop paint called "Purple Neon" wasfound on a few guitars in the early 90's late 80's and I think the F9 serial number suggests an 89 model

Finish could be "Grape Ice" or "Jewel Blue".. Grape Ice looks purple or redish purple depending on light, Jewel Blue looks purple or dark blue.. Sounds to like an 1989 570, either way..

Pull off the neck, look at the heel, there should be a stamp telling what model.

pulling off the neck will likely read as 550 or 570 neck even if the body isnt. Ibanez used ss0 necks on the majority of the 5 series even if it wasnt a 550. as for my previous call on DX. Slash it.. It was late when i wrote it. the DX models have a pick guard.....

570 makes more sense though.

can you get us pictures?

The 550s and 570s had V7 and V8 Pups later on, the 570 has NO pick guard, the 550 will.
My 570 neck was stamped with 570, my 550 was stamped with 550... I dunno why that would vary so much?

Over it's 15 or so year run the 570 has come with both V1/V2 and V7/V8 pickups as standard
