Which SD pickups for my RGR421?
After about 8 months of playing with the stock "Designed by EMG" pickups, I've decided that this pair of humbuckers needs to go. They are really just dead. So, now I am ready to drop in some serious pickups and I think Seymour Duncan would be the best choice. I am considering the hot rod set which contains the SH-4 JB bridge pup and the SH-2 neck pup. Should I go for this set or should I get the JB with something else for the neck?
btw, my guitar is mahogany body
Thanks

what type of music do you want to use this axe for? the jazz/jb rig will do just about anything. for heavy rock and metal, look at the distortion set.

The JB/Jazz is an excellent place to start. I recommend using 250k pots with the JB to tame some of the brightness.

DO IT. Can't go wrong. Then you can tweek if you don't like. For example, want more distortion? then go SH6. I think you'll love the jazz

What about the new Alternative 8? I think I will get that and a 59n for my RG321MH

Re: Which SD pickups for my RGR421?
Thanks for your replies everyone. To give a bit more info, I play alot of rock, metal, and blues. I play through a Metal Muff --> Cube 30x. I already have an Ibanez GRX-20 loaded with GFS Crunchy Rails that I keep in lower tunings. They have very high output and are excellent for rock and metal, but can be a bit dry.
With the Duncans I am looking for tight crunchiness, but also very rich, thick tone for soloing and crisp, singing harmonics. So, I think I am going to go with the Hotrod combo. I was considering the '59 for the neck, but I have a feeling the SH-2 will be more versatile. If anyone has any other suggestions, please feel free.
Thanks

Duncan Custom or Custom Custom in bridge, Duncan Distortion in the neck. You'll thank me later. JB/Jazz is a great combo, but go out on a limb here. You will be pleasantly surprised.

I like the Pearly Gates in the neck position, but the Hot Rod set is priced really nice. I'd start with that and switch if needed.
