Who has a RG321?

I would like to get a used one of these and do some custom work to it. How does the guitar sound and play? Does it sound darker than a basswood RG?

I just bought an RG321MH for the purpose of converting it into a left hand guitar. The "mahogany" wood used in the RG321 is very light and the guitar feels rather neck heavy, and certainly completely unlike a Les Paul. Still it certainly has a warmer and fuller sound than my GRG170 Basswood guitar, although I havent tried switching the PU between the two guitars. The lefthand body is going to be made out of african mahogany which is much denser, stronger and heavier that what the Rg321 comes with.

Oh, it plays nice, sounds fine. Except mine's a 2004 Korean one. Is good as it stands but is a good canvas for mods too.

I have an RG321MH. Its pretty good, sounds good IMO. I have to set the action somewhat high in order to play without fret buzz.

The assembly quality of my indonesian rg321 is not top notch. Today I discovered that the string ferrules on the back of the guitar were surprisingly loose in the holes, in fact one them had been 'repaired' during production by adding tape to the ferrule in to to improve the fit. I reckon that the tape really does wonders for the sustain of the guitar (not!). But at 290 euros I guess you cannot expect a lot.

i have one from 2005. its a 321MH korean model. it used to be my drummer's guitar when he wanted to learn guitar but he never picked it up and never did a good job of taking care of it. i took it home a few months back to give it a good home. the guitar is a simple workhorse. i did do quite a number of mods since my drummer didnt really take care of it and most of the hardware wasn't in very good shape. i changed the pickups of course to a breed bridge and paf pro neck as i never liked the infinity pickups, changed the saddles and nut to graptech string savers and trem-nut respectively and also changed the machine heads as well to wilkinson locking tuners cause the machine heads on mine were crap. to me the rg321 is a guitar of simplicity and practicality. it works well, with a few mods the guitar is very playable. im not sure on how sturdy the indon pieces are build, but the korean ones are top notch to me.

I have one from '10 and love it. I don't have a problem with it being neck heavy either. I'm planning on switching the pickups for some Air Classics and putting a 4pdt switch where the tone knob was (I took it out.) so I can have Series/single coil/Parallel. The only recurring problem I have with mine is the little nut on the output jack keeps coming off so I got to tighten it back down every couple of weeks. Probably need to put some Lock tight on it to fix it. and just about all of my Cosmo Black hardware is now chrome and that's less than a year of playing it. ( I got it back in march)
