Why is RG1521 not sold in the US?

I recently played an RG1521 and since than I have been trying to find it in the states. This model is basically the fixed bridge version of 1520. (same as RG321 . However, unlike RG321, RG1521 is made in Japan and has prestige Wizard necks which are thinner than wizardII). I would love to see this model offered in the US.

I have looked everywhere but it appears that the only solution to lay your hands on this model is to bring it from Japan, which makes it very costly. Ibanez Japan website shows that the price for RG1521 is same as RG1550-1570s which is around $550 here in US. I would gladly pay this amount for a fixed bridge prestige Ibanez RG with a thin wizard neck. If someone from ibanez is reading this please consider that.

I certainly agree. I have owned various ibanez's and it would be the best of both worlds. I lvoe th eIbanez RG shape and style, and I love the Wizard Neck.

I have owned an RG 421 and a new RG321MH, yet I still like the Wizard 1 neck a little more (had one on my 1620x)

Re: Why is RG1521 not sold in the US?

Looks like this guitar is in Japan again this year:http://www.ibanez.co.jp/japan/archiv...ge/RG1521.html

Maybe we'll actually see it cross the pond in the coming year or so. After just picking up an RGT42 and enjoying the simplicity of an RG with a fixed bridge, I would like that one from the Prestige line. Ibanez would do well to make a Prestige RGT with a fixed bridge IMHO.

Ibanez could sells hundreds with a $699 MAP and a couple of different colors.

Perhaps Rich can take Hoshino's temp on this.

Unfortunately Rich isn't a dealer, though I'm sure he has ways to gauge the temp at Hoshino...

Yep. I'd buy one if it came in something besides black.

Re: Why is RG1521 not sold in the US?

Considering the new map on RG1570's is $799, this one would be very close to that if not the same, which still wouldn't be a deal killer.

There needs to be a fixed bridge Prestige that isn't a signature model (ala PGM). It would be a HUGE bonus for neck thru but I'm not greedy, a bolt-on Prestige neck would be cool with me

Re: Why is RG1521 not sold in the US?

as much as i'd like to see a fixed bridge regular rg prestige, the rgt42dxfx will still be the better guitar, imo. bolt on vs. neck thru, basswood vs. mahogany. the korean just has more to offer for about the same amount of cash. even the rga121 has more to offer than the rg1521. now if they had came out with an rg1521qs...that would be over. i would own that guitar.

Re: Why is RG1521 not sold in the US?

You make a great point especially since I know the RGT42fx is one bada$$ guitar

All that said about the RGT42fx vs RG1521 makes complete sense but IMHO I still think the RG1521 would still be a HUGE seller here in the US. Chances are we won't get to find out....again

I do find a small amount of humor in the fact that thread is pretty darn old (blowing dust off an over 3 year old thread) and it still applies to the current lineup and releases.

I would totally buy this if it was a US product. As it is I've been auditioning fixed bridge guitars and haven't really jelled with anything. Then again I did like the RGA's I've tried so I may have to purchase one of them if I can get one of those sick deals on a Natural 121 like some dudes here have gotten.
