My first RG was a 98 RG520. The neck was my ideal shred neck. The 98 catalog lists it only as "
Wizard," but it is definitely different from the Wizard neck I had on my 1990
RG550. I never owned them both at the same time so I couldn't A/B them, but it seemed that the 520 neck, in addition to having the bubinga stripe, was a bit wider. My fingers often "fell off" the high E string on my 550 which is one of the reasons we parted ways. Of course the 520 also had a rosewood board rather than maple, but I'm more interested in the dimensions than the materials.
I'd like another RG with the same neck, but to try something different from the 520. I like the 570 idea of having a rosewood fingerboard and direct mounted pickups on the even toned basswood body. Do any 570's have the same neck that the 1998 520's had?
