Yep, got me another rare bird...

Yep so I pulled the trigger once more, now I'm up to 5. This ones a rare one indeed, all Original Desert Yellow 550L with matching headstock!! I believe these were a special catalog order, same with the Road Flair Red, dealers only got the black ones in stock. I could be wrong though, but thats what I remember from a long time ago. She's got a little mileage, some chips on the back edge, front is clean, no fading, no nut cracks, no NJFC (although I will believe that when I see it). Original pickups, original edge, clean frets with very little wear, the board is fairly clean for a 87', of course I don't mind a little wear, easier to play it! There was a totally unplayed Case Queen 550DY(L) that went last year for $900, picked this up for $600 which to me is cheap! Now I just gotta find a clean RFR lefty!! (yeah, like thats gonna happen anytime soon)

Looks like about the perfect amount of wear on a maple board. Just enough to smooth it out a little. Nice catch on that one and good luck finding the left handed RFR. It's impossible enough to find a right handed one that hasn't turned pumpkin patch by now.

Yeah, I actually had a RFR back a few years ago, that really go me turned onto these older 550s, before that I was using a Japanese 470L. I'm just super psyched about this, I usually don't like yellow, but for some reason this guitar got my giddier than a little school girl, and the matching headstock is just icing on the cake, I'm just so sick of black it makes me want to scream.

Yeah, Yellow is kinda weird to me, like, if I see a bright yellow car, I just wanna smash the drivers side window, pull out the driver and go all Rodney King on there ass, but I like yellow on this guitar, go fig..

Nice RFRs there. As a fellow RFR (RG20th) owner I have to ask are those "orange" knobs you've added to the one on the right? (I had wondered if it was orange people were matching to RFR or some other color like a "red" of some kind).

I think the term "stupid crazy rare" would be about accurate. Honestly though this is the only other DY I've ever seen and the other one was a case queen. And I scour 3bay everyday for about the last, 6 years or so.
