Did you see the LTD versions of the Kamikazi and Tiger Sunburst ? I got my hopes up but then I realized that they would be the same quality as the other LTD's.
I am glad to see that they are offering some of the old versions of the Lynch line (I'm a guitarist from the 80's).

a friend of mine has the Serpent LTD from a few years ago which is among the nicest Lynch guitars i've ever seen. For some reason there is no information online about that... glen

Is it the black and white Serpent? *
They only made 1 or 2 of the LTD Serpents, it was to test the Korean LTD shop's ability to make the signature guitars. *They only went into full production on the LTD signature series this year and those models are limited, they don't make a LTD Serpent, only the Kamikaze and Sunburst Tiger in the Lynch models so far. *
I think I played your friend's guitar here in CO, I'm pretty sure he bought it from Jason at DCGL, he gets all kinds of cool prototypes from ESP, it helps that he is their largest dealer. *BTW, I played an ESP Serpent a few weeks ago and if you think the LTD one is nice... *It's like the difference between 7 model JEMs and your favorite 555 models. *Although I kinda think the LTD models are a little better than the Korean Ibzs, not that I've played many of either. *They may be made in the same factory, who knows.

I've seen the new LTD stuff in the catalogue (sent free the day after I emailed a request!!! - how's that for service?) But I can't believe the prices over here - they're DOUBLE what you guys pay on them !!!
I've not tried a LTD for quality - but I'm very tempted to pickup one of the neck through Horizons for a bit of fun
any thoughts from the guys here that I trust?

hmmm... the LTD serpent is not black & white. It's an amber
flame maple
and white top. REVERSE BODY (longer lower horn) is what distinguishes it too. Only weakness was the OFR and pickups. My bud bought it new from 48th street in NYC for $2k. I felt (and still do) he got ripped off and he would love to sell it, if there was only a marketplace. I think i have some pics at home

The LIST of the LTD serpent was like $2999. I'd wager it's not Korean, if so it was made in Korea by their best luthiers sent on a field trip :biggrin:
Let me dig up pics... glen

Here is the info i have from my friend Joe when i posted it forsale. Those pics are from Ed Roman, as Joe left it with him at a gutiar show to sell in '97. I have pics with the guitar signed and will look to scan them.
The guitar came with (and still has) the original maple board xx1.jpg. Upon seeing the second pic, my friend had the guitar shipped back immediately. Denied of course, but Ed probably swapped fretboards to pretend online like he had more models that were not made by ESP. That was strike 3 with ER in my book and since then he'll get hammered forever while i type online
Note it is a reverse body and headstock. The picture is NOT upside down.

That's a
custom shop
ESP
Serpent. *There aren't many of those around, definitely not a LTD. *LTDs are the "affordable" Korean line for ESP. *ESPs are still made in Japan, some of the Custom shop stuff may still be made in the US. *
Interesting trivia, Matt Masciandaro (sp?), ESP's president, was George Lynch's
guitar tech
in the 80s.
Doh! *I didn't notice the different fingerboards until I re-read your post. *The maple is definitely the original one (as you said). *
I think the body is mahogany w/ maple top, not alder but not 100% sure. *

Thanks Roger. I saw the brochures and it called it "Limited" so it seems ESP and Ibanez huddle togehter when making up obsure model names
Limited = Custom Shop
LTD = Korean
Any way to get more info on this guitar (production totals, current market value, etc)? ...glen

I don't really know how to find out, maybe the blue book for guitars. *Or you might try Jason at
DCGL
. *They are ESP's largest dealer and he also collects them. *How much is he trying to get out of it? *I'm sure the quality of it is far above production run guitars, Ibz or ESP, they did some really nice work on their limited editions. *
I really like the
black and white serpent
, the "reverse" body on the limited is kinda weird to me, especially since they still cut the long horn so deep. *
