2009 Wolfgang!

I saw on GuitarWorld YouTube that there is going to be a new Wolfgang in '09 from EVH Products made by Fender. Anyone else excited about it? I just wish he would take his signature off it. I know it's pety, but I just would rather see it without that. I also hope that they are offered with rosewood fretboards and some different color options.

Unhappy

Re: 2009 Wolfgang!

Yeah the maple is nice too. I hope there is an option of both.

I wish I would have kept my purple stop-tail.

???
There are boatloads of guitars out there with rosewood fretboards and without EVH's signature. If you don't want his signature or his specs (e.g., maple fretboard), you might want to look at some of those.

Well can't I like the feel, sound, size, and look of these guitars as well?!

Yeah, just havin' some fun.

About all I like about the Wolfgang is EVH's sig and the maple neck. Maybe we could part one out - I get the neck and you get the rest.

Re: 2009 Wolfgang!

there is a big write up in the new guitar world about eddie(he is on the cover)

it said eddy went through 80 sets of pickups, glad i am not the only one who is picky.

Anyways Eddie said the guitar may look simular to his other models but they started from the gound up. He also said the neck on the new line is thinner then his other models. He mentioned going back and playing some of his ealier frankenstrat guitars and they had thinner necks which he said he liked and wanted to start using again.

So they may not be the same old evh guitar like his other sigs, but you can bet they are going to be expensive.

Thinner neck, love it! Expensive like a JEM, sure! I hope they have a custom shop option like Peavey does. There is nothing like Peavey's Custom Shop!!! I got a quote on a HP on a sick guitar with crazy options, not a bad price at all. A lot cheaper than a Private Stock PRS. Peavey will do just about anything you want. I hope Fender will do the same, but I doubt we will have that option.

Re: 2009 Wolfgang!

Thinner neck? the nicest EVH sig' guitar was the EBMM EVH, and the best thing about it was the played-in "bass-clef hand shape" profile of the neck. It will be interesting to see yet another variation of that guitar.

However, new material would be far more interesting than more new EVH products.

Official press release:

I'm interested in trying out this guitar, but I'm even more interested that soon you can buy EVH shoes.

Re: 2009 Wolfgang!

Also, he has a new stop-tail bridge, kinda like the D-Tuna. But, I don't get it, it's easy to detune a non-trem guitar.

In some cases I believe he flips back and forth between standard and drop D in between verses/choruses/etc, which would be a bit hit and miss if he had to jump to the tuning peg and back like that. With a D Tuna he can just flip it with his picking hand and not miss a note. I agree that it seems like overkill for most players who would either be in one tuning or the other for a whole song.

The headstock looks a bit like those on Paradise guitars.

Ugly too...
