$799. Good price???

A friend of mine has offered me a Parker Fly Deluxe, in excellent condition for $799. Custom dimarizio's, adjustable tremelo...so on.

I've heard it, but haven't played it. Any one have advice/experience?

That sounds like a pretty good deal!.

About a year ago I sold my Italian Plum Fly... It sold for a lot more than 799

I loved the guitar but had just one issue with it. Playing when siting down the upper horn would dig into my chest pretty bad....sometimes I'd even get bruised if I played it for a long time.

I loved the neck. The stainless frets were still in excellent condition after many many hours on it. Overall a really nice instrument if youre comfortable with it.

Buy it. If you don't like it, plenty of people here would take it off your hands at that price.

Did the frets sound noticably bright?

How exactly would you tell how the frets sounded?

Fly's have some of the worst ergos, which makes absolutely no sense given the methodology to their construction.

I meant did the frets make the guitar tone overly bright obviously. Every material you use in a guitar has some affect on sound, whether it be noticeable or not. I've read a lot of info on stainless steel frets being too bright. But I have yet to play on stainless frets. So has anyone that has played on stainless, noticed any extra brightness in tone?

Not that I noticed... I have heard that they do brighten up the sound of an instrument but I have my doubts about it. There are many things about Flys that are unique to them that would make it hard to compare to other instruments.... Short of replacing the stainless frets for a before/after comparison I dont know how to tell.

I have seriously considered installing stainless frets on some other guitars when the times comes... I have an OCD that forces me to pay constant attention to leveling/crowning so having stainless frets would be a benefit to me.

What absolute rubbish - do you own one? I have been playing a Fly Classic for about two years now and it is easily the most comfortable guitar to play that I have ever owned - problems with the back of the upper horn tend to stem from people's wierd playing technique, rather than a fault in the Fly. The neck is the most comfortable neck I have wrapped my mitts around, and whatever Parker use as a finish, it is not sticky in any way.
