A cool custom ESP with a chameleon finish

Check out this cool custom ESP Horizon II I found on an Australian site (www.importstrings.com.). It's got what ESP calls an 'illusion' finish which is just a chameleon finish. It's pretty cool. Apparently these ESPs aren't cheap. This particular one was $2800.

This is a 2008 Customised Horizon II with 3 single coil Lace Sensor(Silver)Pick-ups, 1 Volume, 1 tone toggle switch for instant high & low’s and the colour is out of this world, this is an amazing colour to look at, it changes from Burgundy, Purple, Blue and Green w/matching head. The Lace Sensors are supposed to duplicate a 70’s strat and they do but, way clearer and crisper (More info. from Lace Sensor) I think they’re like a PAF PRO X EMG 81. The woods are top class and with the Lace Sensors are really bright sounding with heaps of sustain.

This is like a super cool looking, sounding Fender Strat. And it's awesome for sounds such as Jimi, Floyd, Purple, Beck, Clapton, SRV, Gilbert, Malmsteen, Motorhead, older Priest ETC… It has that Blues/Rock not overly distorted sound, probably not suited to Heavier Metal bands like Overkill, Exodus,Slayer!!! This is one nice find and in “MINT” condition complete with the Custom Shop Certificate and Custom Fit Tour case. The Horizon II in Australia goes for well over 5K and a Custom built depending on specs.

Whoa, that's a sweet guitar. I love the whole mixup between Strat (pickups, sound), Les Paul (bridge) and modern guitars (24 frets, look, color). Looks like a great player, I would love to try one if I had the chance.

ESP did a limited run of MIIs about 10-15 years ago in three different "illusion" finishes, one that was gold-red, one that was purple-blue and one that was blue green or something like that, I think they had names like Phoenix, Nebulla and Mariner or something like that.

I love the look of this guitar, and Horizons in general but I hate painted necks on them and I don't find them very comfortable to play

I don't like painted necks, either. Like the all black neck on the EBMMJPBFR, for instance. But on this particular guitar...I think it looks awesome. I also like the contrast of the white pickups in relation to everything else. And the fact that it's a hardtail...

Btw, why is the front of the upper horn routed? I understand how having the bottom horn routed improves upper register access, but... Is it just for looks, you guys think?
