A very tired lefty....

Hello all, my first post here
I am a lefty (sadly) and for about a decade now, I have been very frustrated that all the guitar companies like to discriminate on us lefties. Its not very nice having to choose from only the few models companies make for leftydisabled people.

I have no money at the moment but I plan to actually *GASP* earn some soon ...for a new guitar.
Now, I am very clueless on these things. I know what I like on a guitar of course, but the general "scene" of guitar building and stuff like that...

This is why I want to ask you kind and wizard-like people of the JEMsite...
If you were me, who would you turn to to build a guitar exactly like you wanted?
As I understand it wouldnt be Ed Roman so can you kindly direct me to someone else :P

Jeremy is the man, you needn't look any further.

If you want something like a customized Strat or Tele, G&L makes all their models in lefty at no charge. So anything you can design with their gutiars can be had as a lefty.

Also keep in mind that since lefties are such a small percentage of the guitar playing population (I'm a lefty that learned to play righty) More small-run lefty production models would mean less profitablility for the companies that made them, and in turn would have to be subsidised by higher righty prices. That would be discrimination against the righties!

Being a lefty guitar player is hard especially if you are looking for a good guitar. I got lucky a few months ago and got myself a rg 1077xl (lefty) from ebay. Plus I have my EVH EBMM replica from Neil Bryan in Canada. Now I'm just waiting for my UV77MC replica from Jeremy (LGM) .

Regards

André

Oh almost forgot to add what I kinda want.
Not sure of anything that detailed (on the drawing table hehe) yet, but basically a PGM model with a wizard neck. Since im lefty that isnt really happening without letting someone build it from scratch so I might as well give it some punch, and the finish/whole shiznizzle how I WANT IT

Re: A very tired lefty....

If you're in the UK by any chance you can always give Jonathan at Feline Guitars a bell.

As well as doing lefty customs from scratch he usually has a couple of finished ones available to buy straight away. Case in point:

Lefty guitars just look sooooo weird !

When I started playing I could play equally comfortable right and left,.. Glad I made the right decision !

( note: the RIGHT decision )

Re: A very tired lefty....

I don't understand how people can keep commenting on how a left hand guitar looks wrong. I've had people say this to me a few times but I really don't see it. They are EXACTLY the same, just mirrored. Being a lefty I don't see right handers as being weird, just don't get it!

Good luck with LGM Ohur, i emailed them for a quote yesterday so hopefully I'll be joining you in the custom lefty club.

Re: A very tired lefty....

Thats the problem, they look mirrored. imagine walking down the street you live on where everything was mirrored. Thats how it is to most of us with lefty guitars.
